Curious if there is that much difference in the vx5 hd and the vx6 hd? Wanting to buy one of these scopes and was wondering if the 6 was worth the extra coin?

Recently bought a 5 in 3-15 and have been very happy with it. Big fan of 3-15 magnification. Only time will tell, plan on purchasing another soon.

The glass is the same. The primary differences are flip up covers, throw lever, and internal level. That and 6x zoom vs 5x zoom.

Running a VX6HD (3-18x50) on a 300 Win Mag and am 99% positive I am going to get a VX5HD (3-15x44) for a 6.5 CM.

I have the VX5HD on a Tikka 308. Excellent scope. I do want a VX6HD for a 30 06 as well. Both are great.

I have a VX6-HD 3-18 on a Tikka 6.5 Creedmoor and am looking to get a VX5-HD 2-10 or 3-15 for one of my Winchester 30-06's. Or maybe I'll just have to get something else to put the scope on.

i have a vx6hd and also just got the new maven rs3 and the maven blows the vx6 out of the park. the maven is way more crisp to me and the floating dot in the shr reticle is awesome aswell

Thanks for the replies. I do have the VX5 HD on a 280ai and it has performed great, dialing and all and from the way its sounds it shouldn't?? Guess if got lucky?? I'm satisfied with it, just curious if the VX6 HD is that much better. Probably should just save some coin and get another VX5? Thanks again.

I just got an vx5 3-15x56 firedot that I'm putting on a new savage 110 carbon tactical. Can't wait to see how these do.

I have some 5's and 2- 6's. Can't really tell any difference. I'd strongly suggest getting one with a firedot. My last 2 critters I'm certain I could not have taken without the firedot.

Spot on! I Second this, and I believe all VX-6 scopes have illuminated reticles currently.

I'll provide an update.

All of my VX5 HDs have been sold and I am down to my VX6 HD. Due to Leupold's price hike last year, any value proposition (real or perceived) that they had is now gone. There are several compelling scopes that are more reliable in this price range.

I own both, I learn more to the VX6 hd. I like the 3-18 vs the 3-15 and I do like the illuminated reticle.

Just bought vx-6HD below MSRP. 4x24 -52 Firedot. It’s Awesome in my new 300 wsm browning mountain x bolt pro
