I'm not much of a foreign vehicle guy, so asking. My wifes 13 2.5 Passat has the tensioner going bad, so wanting to try and change it in the next 2 days as I have off as long as I don't get called out for work lol.

But, is it best to buy OEM, or can I use Napa parts? I doubt we'll be keeping the car more then a year most likely, so trying to justify the cost of OEM?

I think you are answering your own question.

For a year I'd probably just keep hitting it with wd40 to make it shut up.




They call it an accessory belt for a reason, you don't need it.
