Guys, I am looking for some educated opinions from folks that have used both.

Main Uses:
Archery Elk - Early Season - Southern CO - Spot & Stalk
Archery Whitetail / Aoudad - TX Hill Country - Tree Stand & Stalk

Lots of good glass out there. Any reason you are set on Vortex?

I dont really have a ton of experience with others besides Nikon then Vortex.
Ive always like how Vortex seem to "out perform" their price point. (At Least that was the case with my Diamondback Binos & Viper Scopes)

I've found the advice of "get the best glass you can afford" to be sound.

Another option to look at would be athlon or meopta. Vortex may have that reputation but in my experience there may be better glass within the same price ranges

Look at Maven C1 also. Cost less than the Viper and when compared beside my buddies Vipers it wasn’t even close. I’d go with Maven or Meopta

In my opinion, the Leica Trinovid and Zeiss Conquest are both better than the Razor. Both in my eyes are brighter with a slightly sharper image and the Trinovid's control chromatic aberration the best of the 3. I would order up all 3 from a reputable store and compare them yourself. Send back what you don't want.

I have not looked thru Maven's.

If my heart was set on Viper or Razor, S&S Archery did a bino shoot out last year and the new Vipers were almost as good as the Razor. At half the cost, the Vipers are worth some consideration.

ymmv

I agree with this, but -

If you're set on the Vortex, I'm not sure there is enough difference between the new Viper HD's and the made-in-China Razors to justify the added cost. The Viper HD's are very good for the money.

Personally, for what you just described, I'd go with 8x42's instead of 10's

I’m not a vortex fan at all but I’ve always thought the viper 10x42 was a solid choice for the $$$ I’d buy those, if I was spending razor $$$ I’d look elsewhere than vortex.
