Just picked up a 3-15x42 and wondering what scope caps most guys are using on these? I’ve had Tenebraex covers in the past and was honestly not that impressed for the price so was wondering what other options there might be.

I run Butler Creek on everything but some guys like the Vortex Defenders too.

I'm using Vortex Defender caps on mine. Mainly because I couldn't figure out if any AADLand caps fit that scope, since those are my favorites.

I have Butler Creeks on all my scopes but I’m trying the Vortex Defenders on my LHT. Haven’t tried them in the field yet.

Where are you guys finding these caps in stock and do you know what the sizes are for the 3-15x42?

Butler Creeks are 18 eye & 31 obj

Just have to measure w/ calipers and go off Butler Creek sizing list

Not a flip cap, but I switched over to a ScopeGuard Alaska neoprene cover and probably won't ever buy a flip cap again. My experience on flip caps was either they wouldn't stay shut (Butler Creek) or were noisy when you flipped them up.

Hey - awesome choice on optic! How are you liking it so far?

I would highly recommend the Defender Flip Cap Series for that scope. You would need the E-10 eyepiece and the O-40 objective piece for that optic.

If you are looking at other manufacturers, the eyepiece measurement is 1.7" inches and the objective is 2.01" inches. If you have any questions, let me know!

Looks decent so far but haven’t had a chance to use it yet. Will report back once I have a chance to give it a workout then.

Absolutely - let me know your thoughts once you get some work with it in!

MK Machining scope caps since AAD are so hard to get. I have the defenders, BC, and AAD engineering. In order, AAD>MKM>Defender>Butler Creek

I’d stay away from the defenders. Junk. Any time it’s cold the rubber dosnt hold them on the scope. I tried to remedy by taping them on with that rubber self adhesive tape but if it’s under 20* they just come off.

Tenebraex seem to work and I want to try some of the mk caps here soon.

Butler creek are not bad. And if they break they are 10 bucks.

I don't think the AAD are hard to get, they just take longer since they're made to order. I just ordered them for a NF scope and they were at my door in 2 weeks.

I wonder if Leupold has a patent on their aluminum flip caps, they are light years ahead of the generic over the bell type. Haven't seen any other brands with that type of setup.

They are worth the wait! I usually have to send in my measurements since it’s not a size carried. But after getting my MKM, the process and customer service was a lot easier and the caps feel identical, just without the thumb release. So now I get AAD if it’s a size they normally make, and if not I’ll be going MKM route. I don’t think you could go wrong with either.
