I have read forums looked through all the different binoculars including swaro and decided on the razors. My question is what power to get I looked at the8x42 and 10x42. I mostly deer hunt in Ohio and go out west once or twice a year. As far as I can tell the 10 add .6 ounces and decreases fov by 26feet. Both of these are pretty small differences but I'm worried the tens will be to much for for the majority of the hunting I do (deer hunting from stand between 10 and 100 yards on the woods). I do have a set of kaibads 15 x 56 that I love but need something to carry all the time. I typically go to arizona and in 2016 I'm going to Idaho. I can only buy one so I am torn and been thinking about this for months. Any advice on which one you have, typical use (deer stand, stalking) etc, and limitations would help. Decided most replies will be the one I get. Thanks

I have both the 10x42 viper hd's and the 12x50 razor hd's. I used to use 8x however I found that even in the dark timber i still had no problems using a higher magnification.

Do you ever have an issue scanning within a hundred yards. My current set of 10's are beginning to disappoint I find that the fov is very narrow and I have missed gear. The gov on them is 288 vs the 362 on the 10x razors do I am not sure how much of a difference 70feet of view makes considering it is a wider angle

I currently use 10x and recently used my buddies 8x and found them easier/ forgiving to hold steadier. I'll be getting some 8x soon as I can swing it.Don't feel like your be under glassed if you go with 8x

I have never had a real issue with it and I routinely use both of my bino sets the same way. If I am in the dark timber or in the quakies it seems like I hsually glass from about 20 yds out as far as I can see in that situation. The thing to remember about glassing in those conditions is you are not trying to just cover it all but instead you are trying to pick the forest apart to find eyes, ears, noses or antlers... The only complaint that I have is that my vipers have started for get a little cloudy now after 5 years or so of VERY hard use, gonna have to send them back in sometime I guess.

The 10x42 Razors have a very wide FOV for 10x42s while the 8X42 version is pretty narrow for an 8X42.

If you really want a wide FOV, there are some really wide 8X42s available, but they aren't theh Razor HDs. If you are going with Razor HDs, I would go for the 10X42s.

I bought myself a set of Razor 10x42s this year. I really like them and they didn't disappoint. I used them for glassing cut blocks, pipe lines and in the thick bush and they performed very well in all the conditions, especially in low light and in heavy snow falls.
