Vortex razor 85mm

I got to try out a vortex razor 85 gen 2 against a swaro 80 with 20-60 eye piece and found that my eyes preferred the razor 85. Seemed like it had better eye relief and I was able to focus easier with it. I had some wording in a darker setting and was able to read the text faster with the vortex. Am I crazy? Lol. Lots of people seem to bash vortex like a second class citizen but I did not find much difference. However, I do notice a difference in binos (razors vs swaro).

Was the swaro a HD or non-HD model? I’m curious because I’m looking at upgrading my current spotter soon.

It was an hd model. I wish it would’ve had the 25-50 eye piece though. Honestly, if you are not too caught up in brand I like the Cabela’s euro hd/meopta meostar s2 and the razor 85 for the price. I don’t have the same opinion about binos. Swaro is king, they put out the wow factor. I promise though, if you blind folded me I would’ve picked the razor, it was a touch brighter. Swaro may have been a touch clearer. Honestly, a little disappointed in the swaro, it didn’t blow me away. Swaro was noticeably lighter.

I have the Meopta s2, I have not looked through a Swarovski spotter, but I can say the Meopta S2 does not leave me wanting in the slightest. It is brilliant to look through.

You're not crazy. I own a few Vortex pieces from their Razor line in both scopes and spotters. I've also got pieces from Kowa and Swarovski. In certain conditions, the Vortex is just as good, in other conditions it's not.

Not crazy at all. I have a lot of personal preference in my optics. I'm not usually running higher tier stuff, but optics for me are usually not a one size fits all solution. There are a lot of general "truths," but some people just prefer things that are supposed to be inferior. A persons eyesight is going to vary, and what you prefer will vary.
