I've got an opportunity to purchase a lightly used Vortex Ranger 1800 for $150. Is it worth buying? Or, would I be better buying a Diamondback rangefinder? For something used like this, the Vortex warranty is a nice boost of confidence when purchasing.

I currently have an old Nikon Prostaff 550, and although its lightly used and still working properly, its pretty darn old!

I picked up a used Ranger 1000 over 5 years ago and it's been a reliable little unit out to about 500 yds. This year I wanted more distance and planned to move up to the Ranger 1800 until I found a used Leica for less $.

From my experience, you can't go wrong with the Ranger for basic functionality, which is all I need. It's lightweight, compact, simple to use, good display, and you're right, the unlimited warranty is a huge bonus on a used rangefinder. $150 is a great deal!

I have a Ranger 1800, it’s four years old and I’ve never had a problem with it.
It’s still on the original battery in fact, and going strong.
I would get it, as mine has worked very well for me and ranged all the distances out to 500 yards which is as far as I have tried it.
