Vortex PST or Swaro Z3?

Hey everyone, I have a Remington 700 LTR in 308 that's been sitting in the box since last summer. With my work bonus coming in a few weeks, it's time to put a scope on it. There are things I like about both the PST and the Z3, and they are pretty similar in price.

Just looking to get opinions. If it were you, what would you put on it? If you would choose Vortex, would you go with the 4-16x or 6-24x?

This would be a hunting rifle, not really big into competition shooting. I primarily shoot archery, but now that I have a hook on some private land here in CA, I want to expand a bit into pig, deer, and coyote rifle hunting.

Also worth mentioning that I read Bitterroot Bulls review that had both of these scopes in it (Great read, BTW).

Thanks in advance.

I was JUST in the same boat as you! I wanted one to top off my new Weatherby Accimark in .300wby. I personally thought the Vortex was awesome and what I wanted in comparison to the Z3. I even considered it just slightly under the Conquest HD's.

Of course I was set to get the Vortex and I had to compare it to the dang Z6 and the competition was over. I ended up with the Z6 in 2.5-15x44 and tears from the money spent ever since.

With that being said, my next rifle will be topped with the Vortex in 4-16 though. Plus they're a great WI company with awesome customer service!

The swaro is lighter and brighter, the only advantage the viper has is that it has more adjustment.

My Z3 is among my all-time favourite scopes and I have about 3 dozen and owned about that many others in the past 50 years, Zeiss, Swaro, all the US major brands, all the Jap. B&Ls and about 30-40 Leupies.

But, I am old, VERY conservative/traditional and tend to look askance at gear I have not actually used/owned; however, the Z3 is a FINE scope and I intend to buy several more of them.

I was in the same boat last year. Both are nice scopes. I went with the PST for my 270 for last hunting season. No complaints, but I'm building up a 300wsm and planning to put a Z6 on it.

I have both they both are good scopes but the only reason I would say PST for you is that ur shooting a .308win and will need the adjustment from that scope to reach out... Also if ur going for light weight mountain rig ur kinda starting in the wrong platform u know? also that warranty is pretty good.. (just got my KIABABS back today from my mistake of kicking them off the tripod)

My swaro sits on a rem. mountain ti in .260 and for what that is it works good.

Also if ur gona be using the turrets a bunch I feel the Vortex ones are more robust then the Z3
