Rimfire scopes?

I'll second the Burris Droptine. The rimfire version is better for under 70 yds I guess since it's parallax is set at 50 yds, but I just run the centerfire version on mine.

Not a fan of fixed power. Yes you get very good at one thing, but that one thing is not very good at all specific things.

I like 2-7 if hunting with a 22lr rifle. Anymore power and I feel I’d need a bigger caliber to utilize the scope power.

Swfa 10x. If you shoot a rifle enough you wont be hindered by 10x fixed.

It’s got parralax and can dial for longer shots.

I run a SWFA 6x on mine, and I think it’s just about perfect.

I do wish it was a little lighter and smaller profile for a 22LR.

But I’m also borderline abusive to it so it’s nice that it holds up.

Thinhorn what did you end up going with? I’m also looking for a good rimfire scope. I want a lightweight fixed 4x but no one seems to make that anymore

I ended up just getting another tract 22 scope. The one I had on my other rifle has been working great so I just snagged another. It’s a good upgrade from that cheap vortex crossfire.

Get a used Leupold mark 3 3-9x40. Can find em for around 300 if you look around. The 30mm tube on a .22 is a game changer.

Yeah, more light, faster target acquisition, and really good eye relief. I can just kinda stick my head vaguely behind the scope and I'll be able to find crosshairs quickly, which I really appreciate hunting small game.

i too run a fixed 6 leupold on a 22 mag. quick and clear when something jumps out. i was patient/lucky and found a vx1 3x9x40 i have on my 17, i like having just a tad more magnification with the 17. can dial it in to see the little holes on paper

Ive been looking into getting the Tract rimfire when I decide to pick up a cz457. Glad to hear you think its a good upgrade for the crossfire. I have one of those on my 10/22 and its ok, but I dont love it. I have a Leupold vx-freedom rimfire on my Winchester 9422 that is pretty decent. Now seeing the couple recommendations for the Mueller APV, I may try it for the money.

Another SWFA 6X here. Since I have them on my larger rifles, I use the opportunity of squirrel hunting to hone quick, close acquisition skills and scope familiarity. Dial distance and hold wind. Works great! $300 price tag and virtually indestructible is icing on the cake.



I ran a 4X with German post for years. It was a bit faster acquisition and probably perfect at our close range coastal forests. But this setup helps my skills on all rifles.

I have the Athlon Neos with the 22 rimfire reticle. I like it except the cross hairs are a bit thick. I also put a Leupold VX Freedom Rimfire on a custom 10/22 my wife built me and its one of the nicest 22 scopes I have ever used. Bright, crisp, good reticle and super light weight

+1 on that Leupold VX freedom rimfire. Currently sitting on my CZ 512 and easily my go to for squirrel hunting.
