Vivo forest tracker esc durability

For anyone still looking, I came across this sale on Vivos from a US based company. A little vetting and it looks like they’re legitimate and can be trusted, though I’m no expert.

With the $15 off coupon you get for signing up to email/text, price is $180 with free shipping. I decided that was enough of a discount to roll the dice, hopefully I don’t regret it.

Not gonna search 62 pages but been eyeing these for a while. Are people typically sizing up or down? I'm a half size and feet on the more narrow side.

To add. I hike a lot of very steep mountains, sometimes having to sit down and scoot on my butt to get down from setting steel targets up canyon walls.

I HATE when my toes are jammed into the front of the boot. Sizing up half a size helps with this.

I purchased a pair of the tracker forests and a pair of the magna lites from this website and no issues at all. Had to return the trackers for a different size and they made it easy.

I get same size as my crispis in the tracker forest, up in the regular trackers. I also went up in the winters and tundras for heavy socks. My oldest pair is about to turn 4.

The Vivo discount thread here on Rokslide has a bunch of year-round 20% discount codes, and sometimes higher ...

I’ve followed this thread and have a few friends/family who use these boots and love them. I just bought my first pair and am excited to join the club.

Is there any consensus on whether it’s worthwhile to add a rand with aquaseal and if so, the best time to do that (brand new vs broken in). Maybe the answer is only add a rand if they start to leak?

I bought mine from a 3rd party so I gather the warranty is void. Even if it is valid, it sounds like CS can be a nightmare. Given that, I don’t have any issue voiding the warranty with aquaseal.

I’m thinking of copying @HighUintas approach like the boots in these photos. What do those of you with experience think?

I added a rand like the pics both to a well used pair and a brand new pair. Worked great on both. I think I used some rubbing alcohol first to remove some oils so it would stick and both boots the rand is holding up well. I would go for it, but I also don’t think it changes the characteristics that much for water getting in or not.

Imo those boots should come with a rand. The regular trackers got em so should these
Now that I have the forest trackers and the winter trackers it does seem like there should be a shoe in the middle that's waterproof but doesn't have lining.

It would make the winter trackers obsolete tho because the liner in the winter trackers doesn't do much and you could just wear another pair of socks if we have a waterproof forest tracker.

I hear you. Good to know about the winter trackers as I've been eyeing them up. I'm also interested in the jungle esc but they don't seem to be too popular on here for some reason.

Can you elaborate on this? I’ve gathered that most people who report leaking think it comes through she stitching that attaches the sole to the upper, and the rand solves that.

I know the leather uppers won’t be “waterproof” but hoping I can stay relatively dry in mud, snow and small puddles/creeks.

I am on the fence on whether or not I think I'd want to do it brand new or wait until they get worn in. After they're significantly worn, the stitching can start fraying and breaking which makes it a little harder to seal the stitching in those spots.

I plan on getting another pair sometime and I'll probably wait a bit before adding the aqua seal. I'd like to see if not applying any leather conditioner would decrease the amount of outsole leather delam I got on my first pair.

Next time I will make the rand a little shorter. I don't think it needs to be as tall as I made it and I think it decreased breathability a little.

It made a world of difference in the water resistance for mine. Sealing up that stitching and the leather outsole boundary is key.

The regular tracker is water proof and comes with the thermal insole. The sole on it is not nearly as good though so it ends up getting more of a regular shoe duty vs a hunting boot. It also runs way smaller than any of my other trackers which is odd and annoying since I can only wear it with light weight socks.

Ive had the jungle ones sitting in my cart all week trying to decide. I feel like they would be great for canoe trips etc. I will probably go ahead and order, was hoping to see them added to a sale but honestly they are pretty much never in stock in my size so I should just do it.

I added the rand to my original pair of trackers and I don’t think it made much of an improvement in water resistance. When they were new they did pretty well and got worse with age/miles. I had high hopes for the rand

I just don’t think it helps that much with them being waterproof or water resistant. I bought a pair of the waterproof textile boot they make to wear when I need waterproof boots and so far they’re great.
