Looking for a solid tripod with a solid fluid head for videoing as a hobbyist for wildlife this season and wondering what professionals / people here are running.
Current I run a Sony fx30, and have it fairly rigged out in a cine style cage, shotgun mic, monitor, v-mount batteries, and will be getting a 200-600 G lens, 1.4x TC, and rails for lens support, etc... I do plan on moving to a fx6 or komodo-x in the near future, but either body won't substantially make my rig too much heavier.
I've pretty much convinced myself that a sachtler75 legs and the aktiv8 fluid head would be my end all be all video tripod with all the good reviews about it (across wildlife film videographers and normal videographers). Just don't hear much about anything else that is used outdoors and not just in a studio setting, but that is likely due to lack of research on my end. I'd say the price of the sachtler is pretty much my limit, so anything really around $3k would be in my budget (but even better if there's something comparable and way less).
Only requirements are solid fluid head / system and reasonable on the weight. Being realistic 90% of the time it'll likely be used within reasonable distance to the truck, and 10% being backpacked into the wild.
Figured I would throw this out there and see what others recommend / are running for more video focused work.
