When winter doldrums set in, I start obsessing over arrow builds to pass the time. Something about all of the steps that is real relaxing to me. I wish I felt the same about tying flies.

This year I decided to build some HLR.

Typically I don’t bother to spin them before cutting as experience has shown me I’ll have to deal with wobbles so I do half the cut from front and the other off the back.

Bought the modsaw so decided to check the nock ends on the spinner it has.

I’m shocked. 48 arrows and not one needs a cut. Maybe the fronts do, but I have to cut them anyway so I didn’t check.

This is the first set of “elite” .001 arrows I’ve ever checked that didn’t have at least two outliers in a dozen.

Well done Victory.

Im interested in hearing how the build goes, what are the specs?

Also, do you spine align/nock tune? Or test dynamic spine deflection to see how consistent the stiffness is across the batch?

Thats cool to hear that they have been straight (huzzah!)

I’m going to build these with a four fletch starting with their spine line on top. See how they do before nock tuning. Doing a 15 grain titanium hit and a 20 grain collar. They will carry a 125 grain head.

I was very surprised how they showed up.
