Hello all, first off I would really like to thank everyone that contributes to this forum. I've been primarily a handgun shooter for the last 20 years. Do to a wrist injury I needed to find a new obsession šŸ˜œ

I've re-equiped my Colt 11.5" SBR to start leaning the basics of scoped shooting.

I don't have a chronograph yet, so I was wondering if anyone might have the velocity of factory Hornady 73gr ELDM out of a 11.5" barrel just so I can figuring what my ballistics will look like at least in general terms until I start working with my own data.

Thank you all again for the new education šŸ‘

Adam

25fps per inch is subtracted from the 24ā€ factory test barrelā€™s listed velocity. So, Iā€™d say 2450-2500fps?

That's the fps range I also had in my head, was curious if anybody happened to chrono that ammo in their 11.5

I greatly appreciate it šŸ‘

Awesome thanks,

That still has me right in my theoretical 2400-2500 range. I might just go ahead and order a chrono, always need more toys šŸ¤”haha

With my particular physical issues, getting steady is very difficult, but it's easy to see with a good shooter, it's shooting a tad less than MOA.

With my shaking all over šŸ˜œ I'm averaging closer to 2MOA

2615FPS 18ā€ Tikka T3X 8 twist should put you at 2450ish out of a 11.5ā€ all else equal
I was "hoping" for a bit more, but it makes sense it's a little less being a gas gun.

I definitely see a Tikka in my future anyway šŸ˜Ž I set up my SBR mostly to start practicing and work on breathing and trigger control

Seems like youā€™ve got about the best truck gun I could think of.

It gets a little hefty with the can on it, but it's a nice small hearing-comfortable setup. I'm thinking on using the SBR for deer later this year, I'm moving to western PA in May, so I got a Kali-key conversion kit so I can make it a manually operated firearm there. Now that I have velocities, I know I should be good to go out to 225-250 yards, with a personal limit of 150 yards for now, hopefully with more practice I'll change MY limit :)
