Mine have a “wee” bit of backlash, but honestly it’s not enough to notice. It’s very very smooth. If it was any more, then it would bother me.

I observed a full PRS match through these last Saturday. Almost every shot in a squad of 6 shooters. I was thoroughly impressed with the glass quality and FOV.

I did not like the "buttons" when wearing even super thin gloves, it was hard to determine where your fingers were, and if you were pressing hte button, the d-pad, or just the side of the housing!!

Any update on how these units are working or comparing to today's offerings, especially the 12x? I was almost set on the Swaro's but the app is severely lacking.

I have not put mine through any extensive use or rough handling in the field, but so far at the range training they have been good.
I find the app simple to use and update gun/bullet profiles, then power the unit on and sync whichever profile I want to shoot. I don't really care about any of the more complex linking features like wind meters, kestrel etc. I just want to load the bullet profile with MV in so I get the range and elevation dial when I hit the button. I do see a little bit of downside for the black etched reticle on some backgrounds compared to the little red projected circle of most comparable units. Most of the time it's fine and good but some backgrounds make it tough to see the reticle.

I have done a little bit of glassing through the range extenders too and while they dim the image a bit the clarity remains excellent.
Overall I find the optical quality dang good. plenty good for me. I have limited expereince with quality glass to compare with but I do have some zeiss SFL binos and I also compared side by side to Leica Geovid pro the Vectors were close enough to me. The Leica's have better optics hands down but the ranging speed and display of data right below the range is better in the Vectors and the optics are good, I would say "really good" for whatever that subjective opinion is worth to you.

For reason it seems like any "press" about them has just dropped off completely. I don't see any new videos or any real useful long range hunting reviews or updated information about these anywhere...

Lol right! But what I'd like know is what exactly their downfall is.

I'm still using the sig 3ks. I want better glass and 12x power but my understanding is the EL's or their app doesn't connect with any weather meter or factor in spin drift or coriolis. For that price it's mind boggling to me.

It’s like everything else in the “forum” world. Everything is the best ever until a new one comes along. I’ve owned two pair and they are very very good. They have their little quirks like everything else, but there is no perfect product. There is nothing wrong at all with the Vector X other than some small adjustments There are improvements being made as we speak. They’re only going to get better.
