I'm investigating the possibility of putting two Kowa 554s together for a lightweight big eye setup. The issue was brought up that zoom eyepieces may not work for this application.
Has anyone tried it or know the reason why nothing like this is in the market?

Those are the coolest thing on the planet and I'd love a pair, but at nearly 14lbs I'm not sure I'd ever get any use out of them. I guess I should have added above that weight is a major factor, and I'd like the ability to split one scope off and take it separately. Probably about half of my hunting trips are what I'd call ultralight, there's no room on the scale for anything over about 3lbs max for pack optics.

Yes, here in AZ a number of people are using twin Swarovski STS65HD with the 25-50 oculars. It is not a problem. Jay Scott has posted his and talked about them on his Instagram account if you want to see them in action. He can also direct you to the contact to purchase the mount. I'm sure Cody Nelson at goHUNT could do the same.

It would work but that narrow fov would kill you. The swaros work cuz they’re a wide angle zoom. The variable on the Kowa 55&66 sucks for fov. Here is a comparison of the Variable at 30x vs the 30x wide angle fixed power though my Kowa 664 6B0621BA-00BC-41A7-A690-5D8695B221D8.png
