Varget is a great powder.

Not the speediest, though. Big Game is equally accurate (maybe a bit better) but quite a bit faster.

And if you can, why not?

My favorite hunting load is the 140 AB over BG and it's freaking awesome. 2925 fps and 3/4" or better groups. I would hunt almost anything with that load.

I tried the 150 ELDX over BG and it didn't seem to work well, so I tried Varget. 1/2" groups at 2750 fps and almost no recoil. Not a speed demon, but it is fun to shoot and hell on whitetails.

I used this load for years with great results. Then I went to the 150 ELDX with BG. Haven’t looked back.

Those are great numbers. What barrel length?

24" CA Ridgeline
It seems to be a fast barrel. It is also the most forgiving rifle I have ever shot. Basically anything I shove in the chamber gives me sub 1-1/2" groups and most are much better. Also the only rifle I have ever shot that puts everything to basically the same POI.
