Hey gang,
New member but long time reader. Hoping to get some advice on arrow spine. My son accidently smashed 7 of 10 Vap tkos (300 with 75 grain shok TL insert and 100 grain vipertrick) which I had dialed in for the season. I couldn't find any replacements so I switched to Vap ss. Same spine but different inserts. Here's the numbers:

Hoyt Alphamax 32 (321 IBO)
72 lbs
30" DL

Arrows-
Vap ss 300
29"
Shok TL 95 grain ss inserts
100 grain Vipertricks

Is the switch to 95 grain inserts going to make 300 a bit weak? Should I go to 250 spine

Thanks in advance!

I bet you'll be good at 300 spine. Victory's online spine calculator says 300 is fine at those specs. You could always back your draw weight off a bit if they did act weak when tuning.

Welcome! Like MM stated, shoot it and see. Depending on your set up, you may be able to take an inch or so off the shaft if weak.

I have an RX-3 set up to the exact same specs as you...except I shoot 125g heads. I shoot the 250's, but the shop said they had set customers up with both spines and they shot well with either one. Not sure if that helps.

Great, thanks for the help. I went ahead and built 1 and it is shooting straight through paper so I think I'm good. Some time at long range with broadheads will dial things in. Thanks for the replies. Having to switch arrows at the last minute sucks! Good luck this season!
