Can anyone compare these two? Bulk, smoothness, locking mechanisms, etc.

Looks like the promaster might be about 1oz heavier which is pretty negligible.

Can’t comment on the promaster, I had a couple of the vanguard P111’s and got rid of them.

It was compact and light but the locking mechanisms weren’t great. Lots of image shift on the pan when locked down. No creep but definite drop with the tilt and on both the lock would stick to the point of needing pliers to release it after a couple hours

Interesting. I’ve got a PH111 and use the hell out of it. Haven’t had trouble with my locking mechanisms, not much for image shift and my locks haven’t stuck. It’s not the Cadillac of tripods but I like mine. I’ve even used it to shoot my rifle off of and the rifle weighs 10.5#.

I can only speak on the Promaster and it is $ for $ the best value on the market. It stands up, very smooth Arca Swiss and members here get a lifetime warranty from us and it's only $69.99+ shipping
