Just curious what those who have looked through one, thought of the clarity at higher magnification. I have read good reports on these spotters for the cost and might pick one up for my Grandfather to use at his house to look down at the river. Also like that it weighs the same as my Razor 85. Any info would be appreciated.

Thanks

I say go for it and compare it to your Razor and then let us know your thoughts :)

I picked vanguard up as a brand for my business recently after being impressed with the value. I've always been a bit of an optics snob with European optics mostly (Leica, S&B, Swaro, Kahles, and Zeiss. I can tell you the endeavor ED II binos are excellent as is the endeavor 82a spotter. Tremendous value, especially when you consider you can get a nice tripod or camera case backpack on rebate if you time your order right.

I sincerely doubt you'll be disappointed.

I was unimpressed and prefer my little vortex 11-33. At high magnification it is very difficult to focus even using the fine knob. Even though it shows a power range of 20-60, I can get finer details at the same distance on my 11-33.

Most reviews agree on max magnification and say to back off a touch on the magnification to get more clarity. It does have very positive reviews overall especially considering value. I can't vouch on the 82a vs another spotter though as i haven't compared with any others. Now the endeavor ED II binos vs my Leica Geovids held their own. Didn't test last light but very crisp, especially when you consider price.

Maybe not applicable, but I have the endeavor 65a. It's a 15-45x. I think it is clear (for me) at 45x for me and compared well enough to the razor 65 that can't justify the price extra price. Granted, I am just getting into the spotting scope world and don't spend a ton of days behind a scope. I was able to use both so I was able to compare them in low light. I'm not sure if that comparison flows up to the big 80's...

On the birding forums the 82a gets better reviews then the 65a, I would give it a go if I was in the market.

Thanks for the responses guys, probably gonna pick one up this summer and after some time comparing side by side I'll throw up a review.
