Vanguard endeavor hd 65

I picked up an 82a awhile ago for a smokin deal out of the cabelas bargain cave. I'm very impressed by it, going to compare my buddies 85mm Razor when I get a chance.

I would be very interested in hearing your thoughts afterwards

Ok this is the Vangaurd 16-48 x 65A spotter. First a few pics so you can get a perspective of where I am shooting these pics.I am shooting the pics with the vanguard anywhere from 300yds out to 1000yds looking down a transmission line across a drainage towards a field.It was hot today so you will see some of the refraction from the heat waves in some of the photos.

My Camera, Vanguard 16-48 X65A spotter, and the (Glued together) two piece black PVC makeshift adapter. I wrapped the adapter with a self adhering silicone tape so I would have some grip when putting it on and removing it. It has thin felt on the inside so it doesn't scratch anything..

Some pics taken this afternoon. Mind you most of these are right at the field which is about 700 yds from the truck.
Some Jakes on the field, you can even see their small beards. They were having Jake wars on the fields. Spent 30 minutes chasing each other around.






I think I saw 8 does and fawns this afternoon. I was playing around with the ISO most of the afternoon learning a little about the camera.

That takes pretty good photos what camera are you using?

I just got the camera a few weeks ago. I was looking for something lighter than my Canon HV40. This camera is a Sony cybershot dsc-rx100 III. It is 3 pounds lighter than the Canon with the camera,sd cards, batteries,and case. It does great video too. Just starting to learn all the functions of the Sony. I really like it so far.

The tilting screen makes a big difference iys nice to be able to adjust it to get a good view without having to move a bunch.

Considering all the photos were taken at max power on the spotter I think they came out pretty good.

I just ordered one of these scopes from BHPhoto to try out. I also ordered a Razor 11-33x50 to compare against. I know they are not necessarily apples to apples but as much as I use a scope right now I can't justify the Razor 16-48x65. I'll post up my results in my comparison of the two.

I had the razor 65, I like my vanguard 82 way better and optically they are pretty similar in clarity and image crispness. I haven't tried the 65 vanguard but I think you'll be very happy.

One of these weekends I'll get my buddies razor 85 and compare it to the vanguard 82.

I've been really impressed with this scope so far. I took this pic with my iPhone today just holding the phone up to the scope. Horse was about 600 yards out. The razor is coming Tuesday to do some side by side comparisons. So far I'm blown away with the value in this scope.

So I've a few days to compare the Razor 11-33 and the Vanguard from morning light to mid-day to last light. I'm not disillusioned in thinking that these two scopes are an apples to apples comparison due to the difference in physical size and zoom but rather for me it came down to buying the best glass for a price range I was willing to invest in something based upon my limited use. Both scopes performed very well and I was unable to determine a difference in sharpness. At first glance the Razor looked to be a little sharper but then it became obvious it was only due to the increase in contract the scope showed. When I focused on the details of the image, I could pick out the same things with both scopes. The Razor is an awesome little light scope that i would never hesitate to throw in the pack but due to the 50mm objective it became unusable 30 minutes before the Vanguard at last light. For me, this was an issue. The fact that the Vanguard was $250 less than the Razor (considering sale prices on both) made it an easy decision.

for what its worth i just purchased the hd 65 a endeavor as well, from amazon for 458$ rebate for a 169$ tripod included with the purchase making it a great value IMO

i used the scope last night in low grey light and this morning in some sunshine
very crisp images, very impressed so far

this is my first spotter , but i think it is a great spotter for the budget
like most have said for the money i don't think you can do any better unless you step up to the 2k budget

Received my Endeavor HD 65S last night. After opening the box I cleaned the lenses and subsequently affixed the eyepiece to the scope. I put the scope up to a white background and to my dismay saw debris inside either the scope or eyepiece. After cleaning all the lenses several times, the debris remained. Disappointing to say the least. I contacted the supplier and they immediately emailed me a return shipping label. Once they receive the damaged scope, they will send me another. Hopefully, the quality of #2 will be better.

FYI- I bought a Vanguard HD 65 straight scope last year as well. There was a spot on one of the lenses that I thought was debris but I couldn't remove it with cleaning. It was only visible at certain zoom levels.

Sent the spotter back to Vanguard. They cleaned it and sent it back, but the spot was still there. I called them and they sent me a replacement eyepiece, and that fixed the problem. Now it's crystal clear.

Just wanted to report on their customer service. It would have been better if they would have identified the problem originally, but either way I appreciate having it taken care of.

Vanguard scopes

Has anyone looked through both the 65 and the 82? I am trying to decide if the 65 will be enough for power or if I should just go with the 82? Just want something I can tell whether a muley Buck is worth going after maybe a mile or a mile and a half at most? Probably under a mile 80% of the time. And maybe some digiscoping? Thanks
