What’s the best deal on a bear proof cooler that meets US Forest Service requirements? Don’t want to spend a fortune. Thanks

My "Lifetime" cooler from Walmart has a sticker on it that says the cooler is grizzly "resistant". Don't know what that means. The cooler cost just under $100.00.

most likely bear "resistant" is similar to "water resistant" … think "PROOF"

Walmart sells a couple of different brands that are IGBC approved. Costco I think also has one. Hard to find approved coolers less expensive than those unless you catch a killer deal somewhere.

Also, make sure it is locked if you leave it in camp. I used combination locks last year but I think I am switching back to keys. Can't see the dang numbers in the dark.

I second the lifetime coolers,I got 6 days of ice retention out of mine in the middle of August last year .

STP had some Cordova's not long ago. I picked one up and it was really nice and about $80 for the small 28 qt. I also have a big Grizzy and they are great as well especially when on sale.

There’s always a ton of used yeti coolers on Facebook marketplace around me. While still not “cheap” they can be a great value. Most are hardly used.

Outfitter 35 Cooler - IGBC Certification No. 5022 (Approval date 5/17/16) - You won't regret $190!

I've been using Coleman as my each camping cooler. But thinking to get a new one as bear proof. I did a little research and found Outsunny 85 Quart Rotomolded as best quality coolers for bear proof.
It's around $200 at amazon.
