What sealers are everyone using and how do you like them? My ziplock brand one has treated me well packing many deer and hundreds of pounds of fish in the last 2 year but has given up on me and im looking to replace with something more powerful and user friendly in the next few days.

I've been running the weston pro sealer for 6 years now. We use it everyday (literally) and I use it to seal all my wild game meat. It has been great with zero issues.

I've used my food saver for about 7 years or so now with few problems. I use only the premade bags and make sure the sealing surface is clean before I start. It usually does two or three animals a year its been a great machine

I was originally going to go for the foodsaver but read a few bad reviews, is there a reason for the premade bags? I couldnt do that because i easily pack 20 pounds of fish a week and some of the pieces can be odd sizes (big) and the price would kill me

I have also had a Food saver for about 6 years, it has been a good machine but is temper mental when it comes to the bags staying sealed. I would like to get a new one as well but I want something that is a work horse and seals every time.

I'll be watching this thread to see what has been tried and tested!

I just bought a Food Saver this year and use it for everything, to include packing in kindling during the winter camping season. I haven't had any issues with it so far, and I have used both the pre-made bags and the ones you can cut to your preferred size. I am happy with it so far.

I've had some seals fail early on (used cheap off brand rolls and wasn't that careful when I went to seal it) so tried the bags. Mostly it really speeds the process up for me. They sell them at my grocery store so I buy a box or two when we shop so it spreads the cost out for me and I always have some on hand

Nothing seals 100% I worked at a fishing lodge in Alaska and we used a bad ass six bag at a time x two side sealer and we had some bags not seal. I have found that by using bags taller than you need you can get it to seal better. That said my food saver (the one they sell at costco) kind of sucks(no pun intended). It loses suction as it gets hot.

This has been my experience with Foodsaver. As the unit gets hot it loses suction. It takes way longer to package one whitetail than it should because I have to give the machine breaks.

We use the cabelas brand weston pro as well. We went through two food savers before we upgraded to it. Wish we went with it from the start. It seals better and has a stronger vacuum, getting more air out then the foodsavers sealers. Plus we tried using no name brand, foodsaver brand, and cabelas brand bags and found the cabelas brand better at allowing the air to flow out while being vacuumed.

I wrote a review a while back on our FoodSaver Gamesaver Deluxe, you can read it here: https://www.rokslide.com/2012-01-09-05-09-42/essentials/208-foodsaver-gamesaver-deluxe

I have been using it at least several times a week and sometimes daily for 4 years now with no complaints. For the money, and the space saving design I feel it suits my needs better than a larger chamber sealer would.
Becca I have that exact same one that I bought 6 maybe 7 years ago to tie me over until I could get a better one. I has worked so well that I havn't bothered to get another one.
