Vacation to North Cascades and Olympic

Yeah 20 being closed really screws up a lot... I want to go hang some trail cams... I've done everything that has been mentioned having lived in WA my whole life... I fully agree with the comment visit Leavenworth and stay in Winthrop... I really enjoy that area... My main deer spot... But anyways... The Hoh rainforest as said is mind blowing... One of the beaches on the north... Ruby... And one on the west coast at least... There's day hikes all over on that west side... Or just walk along the beach... And we stopped up at the point where you're supposed to get a tribal pass to see these cliffs and the waves crashing with open ocean... Almost broke my ankle on roots all sticking out in the trails... But we didn't and just checked it out quick like and got back to the car...

Leavenworth. If you go to deception pass you can go to Oak Harbor for food/breweries, you can take the ferry across to Port Angles if that is your final destination.

Leavenworth is wildly overrated imho, awesome stuff to explore around there but the town itself sucks unless you're into overpriced, overcrowded tourist traps

We went through there July 23' in a camper. Spent about a week in Sekiu.
Ferry across from Seattle was more expensive than expected($180+ with fifthweel and dually)
Went to the westernmost point/Neah Bay.
Rented a boat and gear in Sekiu and fished for ~$200. Tried for Salmon, but only got rockfish. People were awesome there; two different people in the campground gave us some salmon.

Unless you’re into wine. Every other shop has something to do with wine. Literally

Of course it sounds like you are probably on your trip today so maybe you don’t have time. But another recommendation is to check out the bunkers at Salt Creek campground in PA. I grew up very close to the campground so I explored them a lot as a kid. You can hike up Striped peak and there’s observation bunkers from WW11 all over that mountain.

Hurricane ridge is so busy with Asian tourists it’s crazy but it’s still some of the best views anywhere. And I mean ANYWHERE.

Honestly I could give enough Port Angeles/Sequim places to go to keep someone busy for a month.

Heading up the 30th. Doing a few days over by the Cascades staying in Leavenworth then a night in Winthrop. Since 20 will not be open, now heading to Port Townsend via Deception Pass. Then staying in Sequin and then my wife got a place on the coast by La Push I believe.

What a few others have said about Leavenworth. Dreadfully overpriced, especially the hotels. Stay in Wenatchee, save a couple hundred bucks and just visit Leavenworth. I live only a couple hours from there and have not stayed there in 20 years.
