I’m just getting into reloading I couldn’t get myself to jump to the FX right away but I did just get the chargemaster lite today, have you checked the accuracy of the chargemaster with the FX?

Yes. I reloaded 3 powders with it. I wasnt keeping written notes, but I was generally paying attention to the results. I'd estimate as follows. It was noticeably different with each powder.

8208XBR - 90% of the throws were with +/-0.05 of a grain, 10% were +/-0.1grain

H4350 - 50% of the throws were with +/-0.05 of a grain, 30% were +/-0.1grain, 15% were +/-0.2grain, 5% were +/-0.4 grain.

H1000 - 30% of the throws were with +/-0.05 of a grain, 40% were +/-0.1grain, 20% were +/-0.2grain, 10% were +/-0.4 grain.

To be fair to the Chargemaster, if you level the load in the pan and recheck the measured weight, it would be more accurate. But I wasnt doing that and I couldn't tell you how that would have changed the results

Thanks I was playing with the chargemaster lite for the first time last night I threw 20 charges of H1000 and checked them all on another scale most fell into the .03-.06 a couple were like .1-.12 short and one was over .1, after throwing the charges I was messing around and say I wanted 75.5 I’d enter 75.3 and trickle in the last .2 and it was usually within .02-.04. Seems like all the ones that were further off were when it was trickling to get the last .1 to fall and 3-4 kernels fell at once when they were spread out in the tube and dropped 1-2 at a time it was usually close

It ends up being just about $1000 for the scale, powder throw, and trickler. That's obviously a lot of money and not for everyone. I feel it will be worth it for me though because of the accuracy and speed benefits I expect to see over my Chargemaster.

In the book Modern Advancements In Long Range Shooting Vol. 2 Brian Litz does a in depth comparison of the Chargemaster and the Satorius analytical balance (like the FX it is accurate to .02 grains).

Don't know or care about that. It is a comparison of two powder delivery apparatus that incorporates the " real measurable results in performance" that you wanted to see. Not here to argue the merits of either with you. You're welcome

So I just got the chargemaster lite, first time using it I found a load with ES 26 so I went up and down .1 and ran 4 shot groups and found one charge of 14 and one of 15 ES. I plugged that into a calculator so with 15 ES and my velocity and bullet I’ll have a vertical variation of 2.52 inches at 1,000 yards with say 8 ES (magic single digits) the vertical spread is 1.44. Am I missing Something or am I way off? Can people people shoot that well to notice the difference of an inch at 1,000? I mean your paying 800$ more for 1 inch at 1,000. Im new to this but it kind of seems like the archery guys dorking out tuning arrows and they can’t shoot well enough to know the difference, but Levi does it so I need to

The thing I found my Hornady auto charger was I had good days and bad days. I’d have a range day like you are talking about then another day where the ES was way higher. After a while I was able to tell when the powder charger wasn’t working right.

I used static spray, changed to led lights and kept my cell phone away, it was just inconsistent. I wasted plenty of time and components before getting the auto trickler, which was worth the upgrade for me.

I think I’ve thrown a total of 60 charges with mine, maybe I just got lucky. I hope I can stay under the 20es range but it certainly could have been beginners luck
