So I'm pretty sure I'm switching from my RCBS chargemaster to a thrown charge and a trickler on an A&D FX-120i.

Down the road I may want to add the Autotrickler setup.

Is it hard to add to an existing scale or should I just bite the bullet and order a finished Autotrickler and eat Ramen for a few months?

I’m in the same boat. I own a fx120 and I throw charges manually with rcbs powder thrower and then hand trickle with their trickler. Is it terrible no but it’s not that fun either. What I do know is my charges are exact.
Some day I’ll get the autotrickler

Man... I went throught the same dilemma. Actually changed my order to include the auto trickier before the original oder shipped.

Where did you get your FX-120i?

If you are going to add a trickler to your existing scale, I recommend the ingenuity precision trickler.

Do they have one that isn't an add on to an autotrickler? I didn't see one on the website. They do look nice but i haven't been able to convince myself I need that upgrade for my v3.

You can get the autotricker electronics board and cables for $90, total so that it can be used standalone.

Shoot Paul an email and he will tell you exactly what to get and how to set it up.

Ok, and then you'd basically also need the draft shield/top from autotrickler for it to sit on right?

If I'm thinking of this right, a guy could then just rig a standard powder throw to drop powder above it and be on their way. They'd only be into it for $500+cost of draft sheild/top + powder throw + FX120i... So over a thousand bucks anyway haha!

Make one, Easy to make. Hell I made one, then decided to make my own complete setup.

I have since redesigned it for a bigger hopper. Holds a lb of powder.

I never said it would be cheaper. ;)

If you already have the fx120, the IP trickler upgrade comes with an attachment for the top that you can throw directly into, so you only be in for $500 additional.

If you don’t have the scale, the the V4 or Super trickler package is the better “value”

Its not cheap but just bite the bullet and buy once cry once. I dont know what powder thrower is better, either the ingenuity or auto trickler but I have the auto trickler and I'm happy with it

Ingenuity sure looks better in all comparisons i've seen but it looks like you need to have an auto trickler to pay for the retrofit upgrade or get in line with the hoard of people that have been waiting forever for the full ingenuity setup.

Ingenuity looked to be a few seconds faster on average per throw and nailed it exact to the kernel rather than + or - a kernal with an occasional overthrow like the autotrickler. I want an ingenuity but I could buy a bunch of bullets for the $ it would cost to upgrade and i dont think it would make a meaningful difference in my loading productivity.
