Sorry if this has been brought up but what on earth is going on with the used market ? When did every piece of junk become so valuable ?
I recently started using FB market place. I got sick of being left out so I had my wife log me into her account 😂

I am always in the market for the right old truck or antique. Not a junk collector but appreciate old stuff.

Every C10 Chevy is worth 6-10k
Stuff that is far beyond repair, rusty smashed trucks that don’t have one good fender are thousands of dollars.

Not that long ago, 15 years ago maybe. I bought a 72 GMC that had a body off resto and was BEAUTIFUL. $14000

But I also notice things don’t seem to be selling. Some people are bad at pulling down adds but are people actually getting these prices?

C10's are hot right now, give it another 10-years and those 1994 Chevys/Fords will be rocking...my 24-year old son thinks an 84 Ford is awesome (?) I basically had to give mine away 20-years ago

You fellas are just jealous old trucks are now a thing, post a couple more instag reels with your #squarebody :ROFLMAO:
Been dealing in early Broncos for about a decade...good to see the in thing be something else for change.

Im already seeing it! Young guys fixing up the mid 90s trucks. The older work trucks are gaining popularity too. The 1ton farm truck stuff. Thinking I better buy some before they are 10k for a rusty paper weight 😂

I actually have a 94 Toyota with 124k on it. It’s in amazing shape! Bought it a few years ago but it needs a motor. The 3.0 has a dead cylinder. I still feel good about paying $2300 for it lol
I think the broncos have been expensive as long as I can remember.
Old beat-to-crap Toyotas are the worst. Right behind them are old Ford trucks and Broncos in our area right now.

I would say the "short answer" is NO, people are not getting those prices... there are always 75% of the sellers shooting for the moon... 25% are serious to half-way serious sellers. The only things selling for a premium are mint. Are the hot trucks more than a few years ago, yes 100%

Ive got a 89 grand wagoneer that I decided I didn't want to fix. Put a price on it for 3x what I paid for it.... ive got a list of people coming willing to pay full price

So you guys think people just list stuff and never sell them? I will say, it never hurts to offer less than asking price. Most are pricing that in now and accepting less than their asking price. I have bought a few higher priced items over the last couple months... EVERYTHING is expensive and selling. Both dirt bikes I purchased were just below new prices and were years old. My SxS is worth almost what I bought it for 6 years ago.

Yes. I have trucks and boats saved on Facebook that have been there 6+ months every once in a while i tell them I'd still buy it.

Ive done it to. I sold a jeep that I put stupid price on it because I liked to drive it but if someone paid it I'd sell. Guy drove 17hrs to get it after I had it listed for about 8 months

Well, three things have all happened that could explain most of it.

1. New pickups prices have doubled in 5 years. New vs used is a spread and when one goes up the other generally follows. As new prices have pushed up, it’s still cheaper to buy used, even at the increases prices.

Bought a 01 Tundra with 140K on it in 2012. Paid 7500. Totaled it in 2024 with 197K. Insurance gave me 10500. That’s nearly a 50% increase in 12 years.

2. New vehicles are less desirable by many, due to price and reliability. This has increased the demand for used.

3. It’s not so much that they are worth more than it is that the paper you are using to buy it is worth less. 3-4 years of sustained 7-9% inflation does that.

Basically, the short way of answering it is economics.

That 72 Chevy for 14k would be the equivalent of buying an 87 Chevy for 21k today

That 72 went from just an old truck to a classic. In a few years I'll be telling people how you could buy first gen Tacoma for under 10k when I was their age

Those C and K GM trucks from the 73-87 are scarce and valuable because they were gutless junk and most of them rusted away. We had dozens of them over the years. I wouldn’t pay good money for one today no way no how. 67-72 were good, they never built a decent truck again until ‘88.
