Damn, that sucks. When you shipped it, did they ask what was in the package? Shipping firearms parts hasn’t been as easy over the past few years, so wouldn’t be surprised about them denying a claim if shipping firearms parts goes against their policies.

Not sure who you could escalate that to, but I hope it’ll turn up!

UPS specifically states that they only ship firearms from FFLs. If you shipped it personally that's why you are out of luck.

USPS is the only way to send firearms at this point as a non FFL.

Did the FFL send you the label? UPS has some pretty strict rules regarding shipping firearms. It is nearly impossible to do person to FFL without someone else doing the label.

If you use a service like https://www.shipmygun.com/go/ you can use UPS.

I personally wouldn't touch that since UPS specifically forbids private firearm shipments. In fact, the SMG FAQs specifically state that the person is the shipper and NOT SMG. That would be particularly problematic I'd bet.
It is run by Buds gun shop - they stopped doing private shipping and started sending people to this service.

That's cool and all but USPS is the only shipper that specifically allows private firearm shipments. Is it really so hard to just use that?
UPS does not say "unless you buy a label from Buds Gun Shop." They don't want your gun. Why fight that? That's nonsensical to me.

Getting back on topic.
Regardless, as for the OP, he is out of luck since he shipped something UPS does not allow him to ship.

USPS does now allow handguns to be shipped. But, as always, you do you and all that.

Has anyone ever dealt with ups losing a firearm? I sent a tikka action to Kampfeld ups insured. The package showed up looking like it was ripped open, action missing. UPS not really caring about a missing firearm and denied my claim.
They may not care now but when local or federal authorities climb in their ass over a missing firearm they are going to
