UPS lost tikka action

neither usps or ups gives a hoot about lost stuff.

i have 2 barrels that were shipped to me that are lost by usps at the moment.

the last time they lost a barrel i shipped the gave me the run around for weeks and then all of a sudden "you waited too long"

keep after them

While we are all outraged at ups, remember that dude who smoked the potential world record bull in Washington got all his money from UPS. Bunch of hypocrites running those brown vehicles.

Was it entered stolen? An empty box showing up isn’t lost.
Yep.
@Hunter609 , did you tell them you want it on NCIC/listed as stolen?
If it’s agains their policy, that doesn’t mean they can just make it disappear, not let you know, and act like it’s your fault. Someone removed it from the box and has not contacted you, sounds like it’s reasonable to believe it is stolen.

I ordered a full size soccer goal, FULL size, and UPS “lost” it and repeatedly lied when I actually called them multiple times, the box was so heavy and large the dude could not unload it by himself (which is fine), but don’t lie

I told the sheriffs office the package looked like it was opened, I will make sure when I call atf to use the words stolen.

Wow. Karl sent me a UPS return label a couple years ago for a tikka and I didn’t have a good time slot to go to the ups shipping center that’s 40 mins away where they accepted firearms. So I dropped it at the UPS store and hoped for the best. If nothing else this story will keep me from doing that again.

Bummer man. It costs extra money but lately I’ve been sending all firearms through my closest FFL (40 minutes). Then it’s checked in, boxed up as per UPS requirements for insurance claims, and value placed on the gun.

Could I have bought another Tikka action with the money I’ve spent doing this? Probably 2 or 3 haha.

I've never shipped a gun part, I ship sporting goods. If they lose the item, I can provide an invoice for said item, showing the cost. If they happen to "find it", they aren't going to open the box and see what it is. If the item falls out of the box while in transit, they'll deny because it wasn't packaged sufficiently. I believe that'll be the end result here.

What does your invoice show for your "sporting goods item"?

I think their restriction on shipping is ridiculous, but it's their rules. I'm not going to try to skirt around it by sending "machined parts" or "sporting goods" and be out an action, barrel, etc if gets lost in transit.

If it ever came to that I'd use my old company invoice and stick an appropriately price part on there. I have never had an issue shipping anything; knock on wood.

Packing tape is difficult to tear and relatively cheap. Never a bad idea to put it on thick!

Thick packing tape was used
Did you get a chance to see (even a picture) of the box that arrived at the destination? I'm just curious if it looked like it was deliberately opened or if they tried to make it look like the contents escaped? Not that it matters....shitty deal to have to take on either way.
