Upcoming reloading shortages

I can’t find the source for some reason, but I had read an article on ammo contracts talking about European countries stockpiling ammo with the future US involvement in NATO in question, let alone if Donald will let Ukraine fall. Uncertainty drives fear and makes military contracts happen. Regardless of what anyone thinks should happen over there, it seems the natural outcome of the situation will be American shooters continuing to get the short end of the stick.

I feel bad for new shooters getting into the sport that think the kind of shortages we have now are normal. Tariffs act just like sales tax and will spike prices overnight - imported powder, Tikkas, imported scopes, and 3/4 of the things we all buy are all going up. We all voted for him - I guess we just take it and say, “Thank you can I have another!?”

Wars going on all over will always affect our hobby. If somehow we end up like we did in 2018 again, buy it cheap, stack deep. Just the cost of living has kicked our butts lately.

I almost crapped myself 3-4 years ago when I needed some powders. Cheapest I could get it for was about $35 a pound. Was in a hardware store last week in Naches, WA and it was $70. I remember paying $9.

I assume he will pick up where he left off, right? I don’t think we will have to make up any TDS stuff, his past administration had enough weekly drama all by itself. No?

When my Grandpa passed in 2011, I got all of his reloading stuff since I was the only one out of the family that used to go out and reload with him. I haven't used very much of his stuff, but I just pulled a brick of CCI Large Rifle primers out that had an Ace Hardware price tag for $8.99. He was a huge fan of IMR 4895 and had several unopened cans that were priced at $9. We sure didn't know how good we had it then did we?!

The cost for rifle powder is insane.....pistol is a bit less but equally crazy. Bullets tips, primers and brass are a bit nuts as well. Going to EV's isn't helping with the situation.

I'm sure that had nothing to do with any difference in media coverage between obama/trump/Biden's terms. No way they made a bigger deal out of everything because of their contempt for trump, no?

Yep. I posted this in another thread but I still have some of the empty IMR metal cans with price tags on them. One of them was $8.95. I kept them for nostalgic purposes to adorn my reloading bench.

Seems like there has been a shortage of one sort or another for about as long as I care to remember. Its pretty easy to stock up on things as you find them. Not much sympathy for those that dont

There's rumors of ammo and components shortages every time a politican farts. This whole war in Ukraine was supposed to decimate our ammo and primer availability. While it's had its impact online and brick and mortar retailers are still getting more and more in stock.

Yeah, it's somewhat available but at really elevated prices.
