Unknown suppressors OG testing

I would sell my OG immediately if I could.easily. it really isn't that impressive. The shoot2hunt.exo bag on the other hand is well designed and is not oversold with its.practical features. The OG was definitely oversold.

How was it oversold? What did they say it was going to do that it failed to do, specifically?

Since my post is being quoted here, I guess I need to clarify. I am not upset with UM/US at all. I don’t feel like I was treated badly or that I’m owed anything. I’m simply expressing my frustration with how the timing of these product releases worked out for me, relative to my own purchases. I can express frustration without needing someone else to be at fault.

It’s pretty clear that all of US/UM’s suppressors are “anti-Scythes.” The advertised priorities are roughly:

1. Safety
2. Durability
3. Length
4. Diameter
5. Weight
6. Sound Suppression

They are designed as hunting cans for “high volume shooters.” At least that’s how I interpret the messaging.

PS - you can go back to April or May and see posts where people asked “why isn’t more suppression a priority?” If you bought the OG thinking it would sound quieter than a competitor in a meaningless side-by-side comparison, you have only yourself to blame.

I also don’t care about the “tone.” Not everyone can hear it. Not everyone has the “nails on chalkboard” reaction to tone, and the shooter absolutely cannot hear it.

This is just my opinion. The "tone" thing was oversold. It is a loud can.

It was advertised as 132-133 SE dBA. What did you expect? Do you think it is actually rating higher than that?

The silencerco harvester evo is advertised at 133 db on 308 and its much much quieter than the OG . See why DB claims don’t matter ?

So, you are saying that US/UM misrepresented the sound rating? Or that SilencerCo advertised their performance as higher than it really is?

PS - if objective testing results don’t matter, what does? How it sounds to your ears?

PPS - I’ll happily do a swap, right now, paying the tax stamp(s), my Scythe Ti for your OG. Then we can both be happy. You will have a quiet, gently used Scythe, and I will have another OG.

I’ll say I was curious/excited about the tone thing too. It was clearly stated that the tone didn’t make it quieter though. It was said many people preferred the sound of the OG over the scythe and others. I don’t hear that with my ears but I also might prefer different ice cream than the next guy too? Not a complaint but I’m not able to appreciate the difference in tone. It’s still a 4” muzzle forward can that was delivered as advertised as far as I’m concerned. I can’t be upset that now we have a couple more that are also short and reports are they’re quieter. I guess that’s why I work extra…haha.

I didn’t get my first silencer 6 months ago bud, I have many quiet silencers and don’t need your scythe . I’m also going to really enjoy making videos on the OG to other cans , that way people can have a more informed opinion and don’t flush $1k down the toilet .

PS : if you get rid of your scythe you won’t have a silencer you can shoot without earplugs

How you spend your time and money is your business. It was a sincere offer.

But, I am curious how to test suppressors for sound if following accepted MILSPEC or SAAMI guidance isn’t worth anything. Do manufacturers send all the suppressors to you so you can listen to them?

Again, are you saying that US/UM misrepresented the sound test rating for the OG?

Your own post about your ears ringing after you shot it on a Grendel says otherwise

I shot one shot with a Scythe. I switched the suppressor to the OG and fired again. The second shot made my ears ring. *I* probably caused the ears ringing by repeated sounds greater than 120 db in under 5 minutes. That was an ignorant decision caused by my lack of understanding of proper suppressor use. Needless to say, if my ears start ringing when I shoot a deer with the OG this year, I will mention it.

@Presswood_936 is just a troll advertising for someone else. Best not to feed him.
I have no ties to any silencer company , and I have never received anything from any silencer company that I didn’t pay full price for . I will gladly bring my OG and a host of other cans out west with me this fall to demo to anyone who wants to hear , just send me a DM .
