Unknown suppressors OG testing

I have an OG coming(for an ultralight 18” 6CM). my guess is it should be louder than my Raptor 8 and closer to Raptor 6 but beating the more comparable spec wise Raptor 4.

Not to many suppressor over all better then Raptor 8 IMO, but spec wise the OG should be a better small caliber UL rifle can,

When mine comes in I’ll do a comparison with the other loaner suppressors at the place I shoot. I got one guy that works there pretty interested in it so he’s on board. I’ll post up our thoughts, his will be worth more than mine though bc he uses lots of suppressors.

I’ll put at least 100 rounds in mine first so it isn’t dry vs heavily used.
Don’t bother, because all the nitpickers will tell you 100 reasons why you didn’t do it scientifically and that your assessment isn’t accurate.

This was my thinking in buying one (same barrel length and cartridge). I think it will be better than my current OCL Hydrogen K, which honestly seems pretty loud.

"Good enough" sound suppression, reduced length and reasonable weight. TANSTAAFL will always apply.

Excuse my lack of education, but why doesn’t the rest of the market trend towards over-the-barrel suppressors? Seems like a superior design

Here are a few reasons I can come up with
-can’t fit over Open sights on a rifle
-To much variation in barrel diameters
-The chamber part that is over the barrel provides less sound reduction than if the equivalent length with baffles was added in front
-Americans aren’t used to it

Just a guess and yes I own both styles of suppressor

It’s mostly the form fans vs the form haters. If the OG makes it on SS I’ll grab one for the stubby wife’s stubby savage. I’m all about convenience.
I will never understand why there are any Form haters; the guy has been an invaluable resource for this forum, and his contributions to it are incalculable. Despite all the illogical emotions thrown his way, he continually responds with facts, logic, and experience. The drop/tracking/zero tests alone make following Rokslide a solid return on the time investment.

If Rokslide were the Masked Singer, these folks, when unmasked, would turn out to be either Vortex or Leupold employees/fanboys or those whose masculinity is propped up by shooting a magnum.

Haters makeup for their own lack of success by hating those that are successful. They hate what they don't understand and what they can't do themselves.
Look at Hornady- lots of keyboard cowboys hate them because they use marketing! Ignoring the fact that they make a lot of good products that are fair priced and are mostly in stock.
It's a sad way to live your life, with a negative attitude about everything.

According to @ztc92's post, the real world weight of the OG is 11.0z. My AB Raptor 8 w/ a 3" reflex is 14oz and is materially quieter. IDK what the fuss is about.

The weight is immaterially different than the Raptor 8, and personally I don't lose my mind over barrel length, especially with materially better suppression. I appreciate the direction and the accomplishment, but it's not enough for me to jump.

from a spec standpoint, in your case you can’t beat the Raptor 8, but… if you where looking for smaller OAL, with better Suppression then Raptor 4 but same length as Raptor 2… in theory the OG would be for you.

I want another suppressor and believe I’d be happy with either the OG or Raptor 8 but the Raptor is materially out of stock. I’m sure I’ll get one though sooner than later. I like how the Raptor is one of the more quiet ones and I like how the OG is shorter. I am happy with every one I have so maybe I’m easily pleased?

Incredibly convincing comparison, especially for people like me who are currently running not the shortest barrels at 24”

That picture alone is what has me interested. Of course overall dBs matter to me, but not as much as a bunch of people shooting them side by side with others and claiming *to their ear* they are as good or better than ones I also have experience with. My brain measures perceived intensity of a sound anyway, not a specific dB level.

I like for people to over analyze things (for free) for my benefit, but I wouldn't request them to do that, so this thread seems very valuable to me. However, I don't completely understand the hate for the fella who obviously seems to understand acoustics and is just trying to get details to satisfy his curiosity about test methodology.

I will never be an early adopter of anything again, learned that lesson after I bought a Scythe (no failures...yet). If after a year or two all the fanboys* are still hoopin and hollerin about this can it will be the next one I buy, without a doubt.

*Although 'fanboy' sounds degrading, I don't use it in a negative connotation. People with experience with a certain manufacturer who they trust, that will buy from them sight unseen is not really a bad thing. The annoying part is people who blindly defend a manufacturer based on no personal experience with the new product. I guess if that is the true definition of fanboy then I should probably use a different descriptor.
