I think I was about 18 when my Dad taught me how to reload, so that means I’ve been reloading for 32 years. I have hundreds of journal pages of load data on various rifles and muzzleloaders.

I’ve always been able to get good rifles to MOA or a little less, but I’m really still an amateur reloader

The only downside for me has been the time crunch to reload. I’m the guy slapping together loads the week before (or night before) the season. Just takes a lot of time to make a living and my time for reloading is always pressed.

So with our new sponsor, Unknown Munitions https://www.unknownmunitions.com I’m gonna give the whole professional reload angle a try for 2020.

@Ryan Avery had sent me 100 rounds of Bertram Brass last summer, but like I said above, time was a crunch so ended up just running the same Nosler brass again.

So it’s all boxed up, along with the load I worked up a few years with the Rokslide members and Mike @HellsCanyon, and my load data, headed for Jake at Unknown Munitions ( and I didn’t even feel judged for liking the 270 WSM!)

He didn’t need my rifle (Christensen Arms Summit Ti) as I already have an MOA load.

I’ll post on here any updates. If this works, my old RCBS equipment will gather some dust for 2020. Excited to give this route a try.

170 Berger? 165 Matrix?

Confident you’ll be happy with the process and end results!
Hey man. I really want to stay at 140 or less for a couple reasons.
1) I only hunt deer.

2) And I don’t like muzzle breaks.

3) no plans to shoot beyond my bottom has mark, which is about 690 yards.

So the 130s and 140 Bergers that I shot out of the gun had decent recoil, plenty of killing power for big bucks.

And I’m not sure that my twist rate is fast enough for those big 170s. I think I have a box of them here that I’ve never used.

This is a great thread. I'll be interested to see how it works out. I'm new to reloading and have almost no time anymore to get to the range. So, something like this would be very helpful for me for the rifles I actually hunt with.

I say go heavy and leave the 140’s and mullets in the past 😂
Hey!!!!! Gosh dang it I’m an 90s guy, be nice

And this reminds me, I got a text from Jacob on where we’re at with this:

”I’d like to send you a short ladder test due to the difference in brass (Nosler to Bertram). I’ll get your bullets ordered and ammo built...”

So Tim, I thought of you when he sent that. You were the first person to try to explain a ladder test to me, so I guess I now have to learn. I’m about to jump from the ‘90s to to at least 2003. But the mullet stays.

I feel pretty special right now, having been the first to introduce the LEGEND to something 😂

Only if you shoot it while wearing a Marboro Jean jacket.

Rokslide has introduced me to many things!!!!! Just completely switched out the Outdoorsmans tripod for that head-to-head based on you guys feedback. Heck, I think Outdoorsmans learned a thing or two.

So is this thread a good example of the effects of the Corona virus?

I mean, how do we go from building a load for the .270WSM to the merits of Robby's mullet?
