Unit 42 / 421 Colorado

Hey fellas, just wondering when the normal rut begins near Unit 42/421 in western Colorado. (Near Parachute)
I did all my planning for Southern Colorado but plans had to change.

Any info would be helpful. Thanks in advance.

Like the saying "the elk are where you find them" I think you could say "the rut starts when it starts"

Yeah, im not looking for specifics as they change annually.
Just wondering if it differs from Southern CO.
Ive been told it could start earlier than Southern CO. Just looking for generalities.

We dont know rut dates for deer in texas but we do know what areas rut 1st / last etc.

It just depends on a lot of conditions, weather, pressure etc.. it happens when they want it to. We are not trying to be butt holes about it. Generally Sept. into Oct. give or take.

From the 8th on if I could choose. Narrowing it down further I'd start a couple days before the fall equinox thru the end if limited for time

We didnt end up going to 42/421. We hunted in unit 62. We had a great time and gained alot of information but were not successful

Thanks for the reply! We hunted 42 for our first ever hunt, first rifle. There were very few elk to be found but lots of sign. Kinda seemed like the area got hunted hard during bow. Best of luck on your next one!
