Went out on a limb this year and decided to try and hunt the desert in early August in search of mule deer in velvet! Super excited as I have always loved the owyhees! I’ve spent lots of time out in those units and plan to scout hard this summer! Just wanted to see if any other roksliders have drew this tag and if there is any insight I could get from them? Not asking for spots or places to hunt just want to get some tips and pointers from other hunters who have drew this hunt. Curious to see if anyone on here has and would like to talk about their time out there!
Thanks!

Id try to locate buck asap like this week. They can be hard to locate when its hot in that country and very short glassing windows during late summer. Id locate as many as you can in the next few weeks and then look for the same bucks come closer to the season. They dont usally move a long ways .

I've seen mature bucks stay right up under the rimrock in 41 in late summer/early fall- feeding at first light on the edges and then move no more than 20-30 yards all day moving just to stay in the shade under those rims.
