Unicorn rifle scope - it can’t be just me…

Buy an existing design like the Primary Arms PLXC 1.5-12×36 and put a normal reticle in it, it's under 20oz and looks mint except for awful reticles
I haven’t used PA, how is their zero retention and durability?

There isn’t any testing that I am aware of. The lower end models have failed.

What I don’t understand is the majority of the issues we know the challenges and refuse to accept the fix. Apparently most holding zero issue come from poor internal turret and the weight is due to multiple lenses for zoom ratios. Why not build a fixed bombproof 8x42 with the modified THLR reticle and be done with it.

The theory seems to be that something less than a 6x erector can be made bomb-proof at a lower weight.
If you hunt for it, when ZCO first came out, Jeff Huber was on a podcast (Tier One maybe??) where he said something to the effect that 5x was a bit of a limit for easy reliability, 6x was doable, but he didn't trust 8x.

That's also about the time that Nightforce (where he used to work) launched their 8x designs ...

...hence the originally proposed 4x erector for the S2H design.

LOW came back and said (paraphrasing), "Hey - we got this new 6x that's pretty good and you could have that much sooner" and here we are.
