Anybody have experience with either of these? I'm interested in both styles for a traditional muzzleloader rig. My flintlock is cool, but I'm always fighting with keeping it primed and upright. On the underhammers do you have trouble keeping the cap on the nipple; or will it stay pretty well if you pinch it beforehand? I do alot of still hunting and I'd hate to lose one and not know it.

It seems like both these styles are a more inline ignition and would be more reliable than the standard sidelock percussion? Is that right?

I don;t know why you are having a problem keeping your flinter primed. Prime, close the frizzen and its done. A good flintlock should fire upside down. Give it a try. If you don't have a good flinter, consider getting one.

As far as cap guns go, I can't help you.
