Unconventional Hunting Rigs

This entire thread makes me jealous. Right now it's canoe, SOT kayak, and potentially adding an eBike and a Packraft.

Living in a pretty mundane location, the most unconventional rig I use is a Pungo 120 kayak to hunt some lake islands. I pull a pool raft behind me in case I get a deer. So far no luck. Maybe a good thing, since a Gator might want it more than I do. Saw a 10-footer on my last trip. :-)

I roll in a 2006 Subaru Forester. No one seems to suspect out of all of the rigs at the trailhead, it's the guy in the Sub who is going 6 miles deep for a couple of nights, and is going to kill something. I had driven trucks before I got that rig as a combo commuter plus something I could hunt out of. It has almost 9 inches of clearance and the AWD on it is pretty amazing. It goes all sorts of places. We joke now that we pretty much rally that thing on many of our adventures.

I also frequently have my mountain bike strapped to the back, further throwing people off the scent. That bike has gotten me into some cool places and gotten some critters out in short order with a simple bike trailer.

I WILL have one of those tents for my RAM this fall.

They are really nice and hold up in all kinds of weather. But do yourself a favor and get a Bedrug first. It provides padding and insulation and makes the bed so much warmer & cozier. You can actually erect this tent with a BakFlip tonneau cover on. Use it folded for a shelf or all the way up, your choice.

I'll probably be hauling an ATV also so that rules out the bedrug. But I do like that backflip and
mattress. I have a Bizon rollback tonneau now. It may have to come off for the tent.
