UM Tikka rings are not recommended for cartridges larger than 7mm PRC?

Why is this? Can they not handle the recoil?
Is it better to use a pic rail and different rings?

Anyone with personal experience using UM Tikka rings on a 300 Win Mag or 300 PRC?

Interesting, is that new? I don't remember seeing that previously.

When I pulled the UM rings off my 243 the threaded in recoil pin was slightly bent. Still worked fine, so I didn't think that much of it. So, perhaps slipping is an issue, particularly with the thin threaded recoil pins.

I had this same thing on a 243, mine was more bent than slight tho.

Yeah, slight for me is I didn't notice right away, but was very obvious when I started removing the pin, more than 3 degrees, but less than 8 degrees would be my estimation. Edit: less than that, perhaps 1-2 degrees now that I pulled the out of the drawer to look. End edit

My guess is it bent until the top of the of the pin bound against the forward wall of the slot in the ring base and the base against the bottom, then could only go further if the pin sheard.

My guess is it would hold fine like that, but those pins should be considered single use.

Where do you see this limit posted? I just checked the website and didn’t see it.

Intriguing -- must be some serious force involved.

Weight of scope, weight of rifle, height of rings?

Ha! My wife would be proud! Frequently don’t see what’s right in front of me. “You can’t shut a damn door but can spot an elk on some random hillside”

Thanks for getting me squared away.

Happens to me all the time! haha

I have a set and when I went to look for torque specs I noticed the recommendation. Kinda making me wonder if I should change my setup.

I don’t recall seeing this on the webpage when I purchased my two sets of UM rings. Would like to see/hear what made them add that disclaimer.

For those of you who experienced bent recoil pins, did you notice a zero shift?

If they are aluminum that is a mistake. They should be loaded almost entirely in shear so bending is less, but sounds like others are observing bending on non-magnum setups.

I edited my post above to add that I've seen nothing on the site that specifies the recoil pin material. I've only seen aluminum on the page, so that's what I assume they're made of. I could be completely wrong though.
