UM/S2H/Suppressors/Scopes and More!

The rumor is that the Form 4 process was allowed to be implemented on the basis that it is a tax. With a zero dollar tax, does the basis still exist? I think it will be challenged.

But yeah, near term just cheaper but huge potential backlog based on volume.
I hope it's challenged and won. This will be huge for supressor industry. It'll lead to innovation and and competition in the market bringing these 900-1800$ prices down.

The amount of supressors already sold far exceeds thr statutes of calling a supressor a novelty item governed by NFA. I believe 1.4 millions supressors were sold in 2024, and likely as many so far this year. These are now a general use item, and no longer should be under there jurisdiction.

Can't find the exact source now but I came across info that this was planned to get it passed in the bill with no fee, and then immediately challenge it on that premise. In one of their issued statements DOJ also declared suppressors as arms covered under 2A.

Senator Chris Murphy stuck an amendment into H.R. 3944 which is a defense spending bill that jacks the nfa tax up to $4,709.

So they probably can't pass it now. But after midterms......
So the tax became zero, now it's $4709 if this defense spending bill passes?

It would help to see/hear more videos (with good audio) of side by side testing, maybe some "man on the street" surveys at the range to get some unbiased feedback. It's really hard to hear the difference conclusively from what's been posted here/on Instagram, and the reception has been that it's a good can that does what it says, but not necessarily "the overwhelming winner every time". Just some honest feedback from a prospective customer. If you're relying on someone experiencing hundreds of rounds shot side by side with this can and other competitors before becoming convinced, not many people will ever experience that.
Some good points. I don't think video/audio is the answer. It just doesn't show up on the mics. The shoot2hunt classes will help they all have OGs on the rental guns, and are an excellent platform for customer testing and durability testing. Yes, US does have to find a way to get the OG in front of more people. The other half of me says I got mine, **** it, let them buy the Reaper if it makes them happy. If people like the Scythe, they will LOVE the Reaper.

UM Suppressors: "Hey guys, check out this cool thing we made!".
Customers: "Awesome, love the option for a new product!"

UM Suppressors: "Hey guys, we have another cool thing we just made!"
Customers: "How dare you give us another new product option!"

So True!

US asked me and @Formidilosus for input, you can bet your bottom dollar we will try to make new products and existing products better.

At the class i was in there was no discernible in sound or tone of the OG and a top quality suppressor with .223’s on a firing line. The sort/ cheap cans yes. But when we went to the hills with “hunting rifles” in broken terrain the difference is massive. To the point you kinda got pissed listening to other suppressors. Especially when they were shot behind and to the side of you.. other cans were sharp and very annoying. After 1-2 shots you can immediately tell an og from other cans. I used an og rental on my hunting rifles and the weight/balance of the og is a game changer.. i don’t know how to describe it but man it just feels good on a short barreled mrc 6 creed!!!

This was my exact experience at the winter course. I was shooting next to a student with Form’s compact little 16.5” 223 with one of the first OG prototypes and that combo was badass. It was more of a “pop” than a crack. I was much more annoyed by those shooting rental 223’s with 20” barrels and DD STI suppressors because of the “crack - ting” sound. It became like nails on a chalkboard by the end of the week. Similarly, when we moved to the mountains it was even more obvious who was shooting the OG prototype.

If the amendment stays in it, which is unlikely, yet not impossible, with a Rep controlled Congress. But, if the tables turn, it could spell big trouble.
Porkbarreling sonsabitches, of course they attach it to a defense bill! Something the Republicans will want to pass.

Why did I spend all that money on the OG…? This looks 2” longer, ~4ish ounces lighter and significantly quieter….

So it is longer and more bulky? But you don’t understand why someone wouldn’t prefer that?

Interestingly, there 4-5 people there when the first ones were shot, and I don’t think a single person said they were interested in using it on hunting rifles personally. The more suppressor experience people get, the more they tend to want cans that are tailored for what they actually do, and less they want “works for everything”. I asked a member here if we could use his Scythe for abuse testing beside the Reaper and they would trade him a new Reaper for it- and he said “yes, but can I get another OG instead?”

As a 6”, large diameter can, the Reaper is excellent. As a driving around town vehicle, so are minivans.

No doubt it appeals to a much larger audience than the original.

Sure.

Suppressor buyers, at least the vast majority, want noise suppression as a priority.

You keep saying this, so why aren’t you using massive 338 cans or integrally suppressed barrels?

The answer is- noise suppression isn’t the priority for you, or the vast majority of people. It is always a trade off of comprises between length, weight, bulk, and suppression.

The other half of me says I got mine, **** it, let them buy the Reaper if it makes them happy. If people like the Scythe, they will LOVE the Reaper.

Yep. There are a bunch of bad ass cans being made that will not be sold because “the masses want”…. I got mine- and it is glorious.
