Ultralight Ultralight Rifles

Thanks! Ordered one to keep stashed away for a future build. It’s a great weight saver.

I think this one has reached its practical limit for an efficient hunting rifle.

I got a question about my handguard and buttstock, so here's what I used:
Used some epoxy on inner handguard surfaces to get a tight fit, and epoxy to hold the A2 buffer tube ends to the CF tube.

Has anyone built their own gasser buffer tube like the lightest ones in here only gas able?
Mine use the ends of an A2 tube on the inside of a CF outer tube. There would be enough room for a buffer, but maybe more than enough room. I'm not quite sure how well it work.

Unless you want to experiment with it, Smoke Composites is probably the way to go with that. They're only an ounce or so heavier than some really lightweight stocks I've made.

Thanks! Yeah, I copied that design and it's perfect, but not for gasser

Any better ideas for what to pare with the smokes buffer tube than this:

Edit, I guess I could notch a carbon tube, and use some sort of strong but not permanent adhesive. JB weld would work great, but if the slit carbon broke it would be a mess to fix.

And, @Thegman Any idea on the go to lower receiver with TNA gone?

Yes, this is lighter (lightest) I believe:

Is TN Arms actually gone, or just out of Carbon 15 lowers? Last I looked they still had the glass filled versions.

Thanks, I'm not sure, but somebody said they've been waiting since January I think and can't get ahold of anyone, and I think they implied they were no longer around(?)

They appear to be functional:

They wouldn't be the only firearms business who's very difficult to actually get a response from. I have a feeling some of these companies have so much business, lousy customer service is a viable option for them.

A couple other options for a CF buffer tube.

These are nice, but really only save about 0.4 oz over a $30 something fluted aluminum buffer tube. Pretty spendy for 0.4 oz. $250/oz to be precise...😅
Yeah, no need for that kind of $$$ for a home gun! I could do a shortened version of our strait pull stocks with just a small slot in the carbon tube and save 3-4oz probably. I'll see what the balance is like before I go that light though
