Ultralight Ultralight Rifles

Thanks guys, ill get some .223 mags.

Any polymer mags you all like? Looks like magpul doesn't make a .223 Pmag under 10 rounds.

My favorite polymer mag

I think most 5 round mags use the same magazine body as 10 round magazines and just use a follower with longer legs. Unless you're required to use the 5-round magazine for hunting there doesn't seem to be any other advantage to them. Could be wrong on that, but that's how they appear in pictures.

Well thats too bad.. I was hoping for a smaller, lighter, shorter mag. Ill have to look at the game regs in my state. I can't remember if we have a 5 round limit.

For an UL or ULUL hunting gun, it sure would be nice to nock an ounce or two off with a smaller mag. Are there any options out there like that?

In this case, the 10 round mag should be slightly lighter than 5 round mag having less material in the follower. More capacity, less weight. Win-win! 😆

I doubt you'll save more than a half gram on a mag.
The Promags & Lancers are a little heavier than stainless & aluminum might save you a half gram, but they're known for deforming the feed lips.

Unfortunately, a 5 round length mag would sit inside the well.

I've been shooting a lot of 5.56/223, and have an LS Wild pack pillow and rear bag en route. I'll be interested to see if the ULUL is any harder to shoot off field positions than my bolt gun
One of the guys on here with the time and coin for it should take a ULUL to a shoot2hunt 0-600 class and see how they compare to the bolt guns. I bet they would do pretty good if there were no break downs

I ordered an asc or duramag 5 round for ARC/Grendel and turns out it was the same as a 10 round body but super heavy because the spring was super dense and filled up the extra space in the bottom.

I’ve since ordered a standard spring and converted that to a 5 round mag

If anyone is interested in my portless BSF carbon-fiber-tensioned barrel in 6mm ARC, PM me. It is 16 inches long and weighs 1 pound, 7.9 ounces. The muzzle isn't threaded, so you'll save weight by not using a suppressor!

It's not been fired much and is accurate as hell. I've since turned the build below into a 5.56, so the 6mm ARC barrel is up for grabs. IMG_1375.jpeg

This is the same for the lancer mags I posted. I didn’t realize you were trying to cut weight. As stated, they won’t do that.
We have a 5 round mag limit for semi-autos here in OR.
