By my math, using this bcg, you’d only add 7 ounces back to a build to gas it, versus a cut down solo 300 bcg.

Can someone recommend the best grease for lubrication of bcg and upper?

How often/ or how many rounds are you cleaning out and regressing?

So is the Kidon folding adapter “the” lightweight choice if doing a folding stock? Or have people come up with lighter/better options?
Listed weight of this folding mechanism is a little over 3oz. Some modifications with stuff people are using could net you something lighter and more functional than the kidon.

This would be sweet if it didn’t need an adapter to thread into the solo…maybe I can find a light weight version of that 🤔

Are you guys using a plate under the A2 buffer?

I notice without, and threaded straight into the TNA lower, there’s quite a bit of flex when I really load it into my shoulder. In the downward direction - it’s creating a lever arm. The plate would load the whole back of the lower receiver.

Curious to see what others are seeing, it may be worth the weight penalty.

I don't put any real pressure on a light rifle much less enough to flex anything as it would dramatically reduce accuracy. I can see with a semiauto needing to keep a good handle on it so it doesn't jump off your shoulder, but that's not a recipe for 1 MOA at 400 yards on a deer with a light rifle type recipe. Maybe I'm offbase, but I can't see this platform being much different than my sub 4lb Kimber. I shoot them like a compound bow, barely have a ahold of them so I don't impart any uneven pressure.
-and I'm just using a carbon tube glued to a 3/8" piece of the threaded end of the A2, or A2 cut down to 3/8" beyond the 'thread shoulder', and then the farrowtech glued on to the other end of the tube

I'm using a thinned aluminum plate on mine. Thinned it for more thread contact with the A2 buffer tube when installed. Might be easiest to use a smoke Composites CF plate if you find you need a plate, they're quite this as is.

To add: I don't notice any flexing in the stock/lower contact as it is, but never tried it without a plate. I could save weight by ditching the plate, but it's light enough as is for me, so not trying to shave any weight, at this point anyway.

Good advice.

Not necessarily saying I’d shoot this way. Just messing with it in the office. If it’s doing it with me putting pressure on it, recoil is going to work it.

That’s why I asked.

If no one is using the plate, and no one is cracking the polymer lower or seeing crap accuracy, it’s probably fine.

I hope so. Want less parts

No. I also don’t have any flex.
This is the grease I use. https://shooters-choice.com/synthetic-all-weather-high-tech-grease/

@Thegman uses all purpose grease from what I recall.

Gotcha, yeah, I'm more concerned about the farrowtech cracking, especially since I had to bore it out a little to fit the carbon tube, but you make a good point. If anyone cracks the lower it might be me, as I load my ammo just under "pressure".
This setup also allowed me to eliminate the stock screw. 3.2oz for the entire 'stock'.
-edit: and that was for a longer LOP stock/tube as I'm lanky

Link to the carbon buffer tube replacement?
Couldn't find a link with the invoice, but it's at RC wing website:
Tube for stock: 30mm O.D. 28mm I.D. 30x28x500mm 30mm 3K Roll Wrapped 100% Pure Round Carbon Tubes (2 PCS)

Handgaurd: I didn't want gloss, but had trouble finding the size that fit over the Jag composites nut without a ton of sanding. Easy fix with sandpaper. Likely will require a shim (electrical tape?) But I'm still waiting for this to arrive (by Friday). https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B0DHQ7MXFF/ref=ox_sc_act_title_1?smid=AGE3YKB7KN0EI&psc=1

I think the main thing is don't get thicker than the 1mm tube, or it will probably be twice the weight. 35x37mm vs 35x38mm...

I've just been using a thin red grease for a chainsaw sprocket, on pretty much all my rifles. Seems to work fine. I'd think a thin moly grease would probably be about the best.

Since they're not gassers, nothing really gets dirty from rounds, just from mucking around in the woods. If I see debris in the action, I'll pull it apart, wipe and re-grease, otherwise it's good to go for who knows how long.

This is the way.

Curious to see if that can be a 2 or 300 yard gun for deer with a little magnification.
Just comes down to getting a really steady rest. I've had to pass up 400 yard shots with my UL kimber because I couldn't get a good rest. 300 and that deer would have been dead. If you use a bipod or tripod to shoot off of I think 500 yards is no problem for a skilled marksman. Now, I think the SBR runs out of gas at 400ish (@packgoatguy)?

Edit: I'm definitely referring to holding 2moa accuracy 100% at 500 yards, or 10 inch group from field positions with a good shot of adrenaline

With the unmagnified 1moa Red Dot, it's feeling like a competent 200 yard hunting gun. I have a hard time even seeing my 300 yard gong without magnification... but I don't have the best eyes. Velocity with the 8 inch barrel is about 2230 with 77tmk, so I could take it to 300 yards and barely be under 1800fps... which many agree is the safe killing threshold for this bullet. The primary challenge is judging drop. With a 200 yard zero, I'm 12 inches low at 300, and 3 inches high at 100. I think a 10 inch barrel might be the sweet spot here... get back a couple hundred fps and that would make the trajectory a bit flatter.
