I’m at 4 pounds as is right now. Figured with ammo and optic I could be right at 5 pounds. Which isn’t the ULUL or XUL but it’s still quite a bit lighter than any of my regular bolt actions and much more handy.

Post #1626 @StupidLightweight goes over his 6arc build. His brain is the one you'd want to pick about a 6 arc build.

Good advice given. Yes, definitely skip the 6ARC in the Solo; you won't be happy with the extraction. I'd stick to cartridges based on 223 or 350 Legend cases.

I was also thinking today, like The Guide said, if I only hunted in places with sub-200 yard shots, the 300 BO with Maker or Barnes 110s might one of the best all-around choices. The 300 HAM’R would extend the range a bit more.

Also, you won't need a barrel nut from Solo. Whatever handguard you get will come with the barrel nut that goes with it. Kaw Valley PCC is a bit heavier than the Jag Ultralight, inch for inch, but a lot cheaper and 100% serviceable.

Thanks for the sharing of info. It sounds like the 6ARC isn’t going to be the best choice. Time to research the 6x45. Looking very quickly at the ballistics if I was wanting a 6mm bullet out to 400 yards that might be the best answer and could keep the weight down. Now to start over and see if I can come up with somebody that is reloading something in that cartridge. Based on the 223 thread I can only assume people would feel like under 400 yards this caliber would be adequate, with the right bullet.

Thanks for the sharing of info. It sounds like the 6ARC isn’t going to be the best choice. Time to research the 6x45. Looking very quickly at the ballistics if I was wanting a 6mm bullet out to 400 yards that might be the best answer and could keep the weight down. Now to start over and see if I can come up with somebody that is reloading something in that cartridge. Based on the 223 thread I can only assume people would feel like under 400 yards this caliber would be adequate, with the right bullet.

There's a few guys that are shooting 87gr vmax's and have had success, @Taudisio I think posted some load development he had with it, and was getting around 2700fps iirc

Thanks. I’ll reach out to him. The vmax for me, has always been a little too frangible for deer sized game which is something I would be using this for out to 400. I’ll have to do some research and come up with something.

I’ve posted a lot about my journey earlier. I’ve posted videos of groups and shooting, a bit beyond 400 yards with the 6x45. I think I have shot it out to 750 yards on rocks IIRC. I recently played with some 95gr TMK and I got it up to 2660, but have not accuracy tested it. I got the 87gr vmax into the high 2700fps, but settled on a load at 2680ish. Killed a few deer with it this year that I’ve posted earlier. It did great, I just prefer reliable exits, but I’m not done testing the bullet on flesh yet. I would not suggest the 87gr vmax on elk sized game (yet) as I haven’t seen the penetration I think is required to reliably damage the offside lung consistently. This has been with a very small sample size and with no shots on flesh being over 90 yards, so my opinion is subject to change. I still need to cut a 95gr TMK in half to compare it to the 87gr vmax. They may not be different enough internally to make a notable difference in terminal ballistics.

A vmax at 3200fps mv does not perform the same as a vmax at 2600fps mv.

Have you tried the 90gr ELDM? That was what I was thinking about starting with…if I go this route. I’m not sure if it’s available or not. I was just cruising hornadys site tonight and saw that and liked what it had to offer.

No, because when I started with the cartridge I was trying to use an optimal bullet length, with the boat tail in the case shoulder. I stumbled into a fellow on this thread that provided me with the unobtainable TMK’s. The heaviest I planned to try with the cartridge were the 90gr nosler BT. I am waiting for my 6creed and I plan to use the “heavy” bullets in that.

I should have also advised that I am not opposed to trying them. I just don’t have any desire to buy them for my own personal use. The velocity I got out of the TMK surprised me and assuming I find a higher velocity accurate load, it will be my chosen bullet.

If you are looking for 400 yards on a 6mm, the 6ARC is money for that job but this platform isn't the right launching pad. I think that a Howa Mini Action with the sporter barrel cut to 16.5" and put into a chassis that has been lightened and had a carbon fiber butt section with a folder added would be just about perfect. I'm considering building one like the picture but putting the chassis on a diet to make it retain strength but lose any non required bulk.
