Welcome to the club. It'll be the only rifle you want to take into the woods.Everything but the Solo 300 is ordered. I'm going to use a Primary Arms 3x micro prism to start with.

I'm heavily considering picking up one of these soon. But I'm leaning more towards getting one of the 2x or 3x models. I've never hunted with a 1x, so I'm not sure of the downsides of a little more magnification. Seems like a 2x or a 3x would be no different than a variable power scope with a 2 or 3 low power. Thoughts?
I'm looking to be effective out to 300ish yards. That's why I'm leaning towards some magnificationI don't have experience with the other magnifications, but I only will be taking this rifle to ~100 yards and I'll mainly get close shots where too much magnification can burn you quick. I think if I was regularly shooting closer to 100 yards id want the 3x slx microprism. I don't think the 5x slx micro gets much love. The 2x GLX prism does, but it's pretty big and I'd probably just use a light LPVO at that point.
I'm thinking the same thing these days.I'm heavily considering picking up one of these soon. But I'm leaning more towards getting one of the 2x or 3x models. Due to new hunting regulations I used a 1x red dot on my muzzleloader for the first time this year and shot a muley buck at about 150 yards. A little extra magnification at that range would have been REALLY nice. He was bedded on a hillside where he blended in extremely well. I had to go back and forth with my binos multiple times to make sure I was aiming at the right thing.I'm heavily considering picking up one of these soon. I really like the PA 3x micro prism. I had mine on an AR I actually use/trained with, and it held up great. It got replaced on that AR by a Trijicon LPVO, since I was going to 500 at cola warrior and my eyes are old.I'm thinking the same thing these days.
I'm happy with the 2-7 scopes I use, but I've been leaning toward the Primary Arms 3x as well, as a simple fixed power option. For the hunting I do, the reticle options on the 5x are really more than I'd ever use. I've used 2-7s for years on my 308s and 30-06s. Generally they're zeroed at around 280 yards and I very often use 2x on animals at that range and never bother even turning the scope power up. If 2x works that far out, I'd guess 3x would work fine as well. The 3x might be a little better for close range compared to the 5x as well.
If you're going to machine a different upper, there's no reason not to cut a slot in the left side. Buy an aluminum BCG, drill & tap both sides & you can switch out however you prefer!I'm moving towards an UL UL build but I don't think I can afford a Solo upper for a while. If I machine an upper out I was wonderig if there is a real advantage to having the charging handle on one side or the other?
I assume left side is a bit faster to reload? Right side seems a bit better for kids though (might struggle to hold it up with their right on the pistol grip while the reload).
Just hold it upside downI kind of wish Solo 300 was milled and tapped for both sides so you can choose your own adventure.
Not the same handguard, but I've just tied a piece of paracord to mine. I'm not going long distances with it though. What are y'all doing for slings with a Kaw Valley carbon PCC handguard???
They should have more in stock in the next couple of weeks. Follow them on Facebook or Instagram for updates. The Gen2 Solo 300 are sold out. Where are you buying yours from?
Does anyone make a 6mm Arc port less ar15 barrel? If not, what would be the best way to get this made?
Also, what manufacturers have good accuracy with a pencil profile ar15 barrel?
That's good to hear.Shaw Barrel is great. Maybe contact them and see if they can make one.
Does it slide around a lot?Not the same handguard, but I've just tied a piece of paracord to mine. I'm not going long distances with it though.
