So, I went down this rabbit hole a bit. I don’t think a single action would get quite as light as some of those ar’s. But there is the benefit of being more compact per barrel/suppressor length. It is probably more expensive. I’m into mine at least $2400 bucks with the barrels, stocks, etc.

I have a 10 inch 44 mag barrel, an 18 inch smooth bore .410 barrel, a 10 inch 300 blackout barrel, a 20 inch 6 arc barrel, and a custom 17 inch .223 Wylde barrel that just arrived today.

What’s awesome is with stock fully extended and a 9 inch can on the .223 is 41 inches. With the can, scope, spartan mlok, and shell holder, it’s 7 lbs 2 oz.. I could easily cut 20 oz off that by changing the stock and forearm. I’m going to run it as is though and see how I like it before throwing more money into the dumpster.

That's a mega-chonker in this thread!
Indeed, but with the interchangeable parts it gives a good reference to where these can go. I’ve added up 30 oz. of loss from where I am now. That buttstock weighs 12.7 oz.. I think I’d keep the grip though because the angle of the sharps 1913 option in all the photos I’ve seen is way below bore. Go with a non folding non adjustable setup it’s easy to get just below 6 pounds. Anything suppressed and scoped below 6 I consider pretty damned light.

Thanks for that, I Wish I remembered the weight of my bare ssk50 frame. I’ll get a weight on The factory contoured .223 barrel I just received. I still think that for packable, quantified as weight and length/profile, the break action is tough to beat.

All else equal, the contender is about 4 inches shorter than the AR15.

By my math, if someone were able to make a pencil profile 223rem barrel for the contender (lightest 16 inch AR15 barrel is about 16oz) then one could conceivably build a 3lb bare rifle contender. I don't think it would be possible to get it down to the sub 2lb range like the ULUL AR15 builds, but it would be close. (Just the TC action and a 16oz pencil barrel alone would weigh 2lbs 3oz... not including the foregrip or stock). Maybe someone could make a titanium TC action... that might make it possible to get it close to the 2lb range.

The phantom defense rounds are in stock! I spoke with them today, and they said that they sell out quick.
These are indeed like the new federal fancy cases that aren't brass, and that can handle 80,000psi. They weren't certain if we could find dies, but they are so much more rigid that we can get multiple loadings without sizing, so I'm good with that. Just make sure they fit in a go gauge, and if they do, reload them.
Sounds like 3000fps is easily attainable for a home reloader with 77tmks in a 16" barrel, as phantom is having to be conservative since they're selling them to the masses. I think they're running them at 2950 in an 18" barrel, but that's not even close to 80k psi...
I can see it now, someone is going to be killing stuff from way too far with an ULUL! Me, I'm just trying to make DRT bullets closer to the mighty TMK...
