Honestly, the best bang for your Buck is the Harvester Evo. 5 inch cans look cool, but are crap at suppressing. The others listed are very good, but you have to determine if a couple ounces is worth the extra $200-400.

Also, Pewscience did a great job, but unless you are shooting the exact setup the are, the numbers aren’t going to be the same. Additionally, there is no measure for tone, which can make two cans with the same dB reduction sound completely different.

Lots of options to generate some analysis paralysis:

AB Raptors, Diligent Defense S-Ti, CGS Hyperion-K, TBAC, SilencerCo Scythe TI

I also wouldn’t buy a non titanium can for the purpose of a hunting rifle. Whether you shoot a lot or a little they will need cleaning eventually unless you’re okay with ounces of carbon. Titanium makes it easy. Just something to think about.

I have an ultra 7 and have no interest in buying an additional can. The gen twos are supposed to be a couple db quieter and a litle lighter. I would strongly encourage you to consider a mid size can rather than an ultra light/small can as they are actually good enough to prevent hearing damage on a short 308.

I have the silencerco omega 300 and the tbac ultra 9 and 338. TBAC runs circles around silencerco in every way, weight, suppression, build quality. Both do produce very accurate repeatable shots. I will only run tbac for the foreseeable future.

LOVE my harvester evo.

Not sure why I’d spend any more to be honest. Makes a 300 win mag feel like I’m shooting a low recoil .308.

Lots of people say you need to spend $1000+ on a TBAC but the fact that a tube with baffles is $1000+ is crazy.

If I were in some sort of weird competition where I had to be a decibel or 3 quieter than the other guy, maybe I could see spending the extra money?

This is an interesting recap.

Wow. I hadn’t seen that before and appreciate the share.

I’ve reviewed the summit raw data a bunch but always struggle to get “good” comparisons because I loose my place in that dang chart.

This breaks it down really well and the values he focuses on seem reasonable and to be consistent for comparisons.

All that said, I’m surprised so many tbac folks (owners not manufacturers) swear their cans are the best. I agree they make a quality product. But what I’ve been attempting to articulate for a while is tbac is still riding a wave of great marketing and success from a decade ago. IMO their own data is showing their products falling a bit behind in technology or at least length to sound ratio for suppression.

Doesn’t mean they aren’t good cans, there is more to a can than sound….but I do think it’s important.

Edit: I’ll give one prime example to focus on that supports the above. Ultra 9 vs DD STI. 2.2” actual measured difference in length….nearly identical sound signatures.

The tbac compared to silencerco, surefire, dead air and banish sounds much more pleasing to the ear imo. I had 2 separate weld failures on my silencerco so I will never buy a silencerco again.

TBAC silencers are awesome, probably the best but if ultralight is your goal, the scythe is tough to beat, you can get lighter and you can get quieter but the combo the scythe has is great.

Contrary to a lot of folks here, I think the banish back country is pretty nice too, probably the best thing from the banish line.

My buddy has the banish, it is not terrible and only slightly louder than the tbac.

Sounds isn’t everything though when it comes to suppressors. TBAC cans are super lightweight and the accuracy they provide is important for me. Sure now days there are cheaper suppressors and some
That may meter quieter. But are they built as well as a Thunderbeast and as consistent in accuracy?

So I agree with that. But the scythe and the DD STi are both lighter too than say a comparable ultra 7 (much lighter than ultra 9). And neither provide any accuracy issues that I’ve experienced or read about.

There’s another thread documenting scythes breaking, yes they have great cs.. you know what’s better that great cs, having to not use it.

I like my TBAC Dominus but if I had to do it over I’d get a gen 2 ultra 7. It’s rated for shorter barrels. The 338 ultra is stupid quiet and does a good job of reducing recoil, a really good job, but it’s a bigggggg bitch!
