Ultra Light Weight Long Range Build " UPDATED"

Here is the beginning of my new light weight build, I am excited for the partnership with Lone Peak and there titanium actions. I am going with a Proof Research 26'' Sendero lite 30 Cal 1:10 twist barrel, McMillan A3 stock with edge tech fill. I'm going to go with a Jewell trigger and a standard BDL floor plate. It's going to be chambered in 300 Win mag and topped with the new Swarovski X5 5-25 scope With Hawkins precision one piece rings. Red Hawk Rifles is putting the package together and this will be one of there standard builds.
I will keep everybody posted with pic's and accuracy of the rifle as it progresses. The weight without the scope is looking like it will be 6.45 lbs.

Awesome! 1:10 is my magic twist for the heavier pills! I am particularly fond of the 210grn Berger VLD's. Would love to see how it performs once you develop a load for it.

Will be interested to follow this. That is lightweight, hope you have good brake! :) Have you considered the Neopod, in keeping with the lightweight theme?

Here is the muzzle brake we have maid for us at Red Hawk Rifles. It is a fish gill type brake with flats on top and bottom. This is not the lightest option but is vary effective. We are looking to get a prototype maid out of titanium here shortly. Ryan I can't wait to see your rifle! I should have said hi down at SHOT when I picked up the action, hope to shoot with you some day.

Today I got to take the rifle out for brake in and load development. It was sunny out but the Temp was 18 degrees so it was a bit chilly. I was firing the groups from a bench with a front rest and a rear bag at 100 yards, my Swarovski X5 will be in Monday so I put my Night Force NXS 8-32 on for now. I decided to get on target with Applied Ballistics 185 Gn Classic Hunter ammunition that produces sub MOA groups for us every time. I got on paper with two shots that were touching so I cleaned the barrel of carbon and copper to see how the Proof Research barrel does with fouling. I was amazed that the carbon wiped out with two patches of Boretech and the copper came out with 3 patches of Boretech Eliminator and 20 passes with a nylon brush. I then ran 10 dry patches just to be sure all residue was gone. I did not clean the rifle for the rest of the test loads, there was a total of 35 rounds fired today. I loaded up 230 OTM's all with a powder charge of 73.2 Gn of H1000 and a Fed210M primer, the only thing I changed was seating depths in .002 increments going from .002 jump to .006 jump. best group printed was .654, I was not impressed yet so I moved on to the 215 gn Bergers and this is when it got good. I will post the pics below of the groups shot today.
I did have one promising group shot with the 200 Gn ELD-X bullets as well, I will now take the best groups and work up and down by .10 grain increments and all groups will be shot out to 400 yards to verify vertical dispersion and pick out the load with the best waterline " least amount of vertical dispersion ". The recoil was not a issue at all, the muzzle brake is so efficient that I could shoot this rifle all day long

I tell you what it sure shows some potential we will see what it does at distance. No the plan is to run the Hawkins 1 piece rings/bases when the Swaro shows up, the rail you see is the one that I got from Lone Peak. I am going to get the bottom metal cerakoted to match the stock as well.

also good to see a nice group with eld-x I know lots of folks are hoping that bullet shoots and performs on animals including me that 212 grainer might be even better than the 200

Sweet looking rig... I know its a 30 (might have missed this part) but what is the case? RUM?

My light build I almost put the same scope on (NXS) but ended up going with a Leupy VX6 because of the weight difference....

With the added veloc. of the 200 Gn ELD-X it actually is identical to the 215 Berger even though the Berger BC is of course higher. I think that you will find the same thing with the 212 ELD. Heavier the better for me usually but the 200 Gr. ELD is not too finicky and it has some impressive ballistics when launched close to 3K FPS. We have a Lab Radar Doppler system so it makes things easier knowing the true velocity.
