I couldn't take it any more. I ordered the mad trapper hoodie and a belt. Now the hoodie is my favorite piece of clothing to date. Can't wait to try it out the fall in Montana.

I'm pretty excited for my arrival from SKRE of the early season hat. Quick recap from last season I drew a West desert archery deer tag that opened in mid August and it was hot. The hi line hat was to warm for me and I reached out to SKRE and of course with thier great customer service Mike Wand sent me a couple of the lighter wieght prototype hats they had made. Fast forward to the new summit pattern and this new product a hat made from the same material as the uinta pant. Those pants are a perfect match for hot weather so I have no doubts this hat will perform I'll keep you guys updated as it warms up here.

Nice buckle back adjusts easily and the excess tucks away nicely

Here is a comparison to my Sitka accent hat.

Sitka hat has many miles on it with more than a few washings. Not much structure to it and has a Velcro adjustment closure.

Early season hat seems nicely structured when new. The front doesn't feel high and sets down on my head comfortably.

Quick comparison of the hardscrabble to timberlines. Material thickness seems to be about equal between the two. Both materials have some stretch to them with sitka having a bit more when I pulled on them.

Is it pretty liw profile? Meaning non- bill part of hat being short? My distance between top of my head and ears is short. so most hats look like I'm hiding something up there or my ears are pushed down.

Nate I would consider this hat medium or average. I measured the depth at 4 1/2" and that was comparable to most of the hats I have around here.

Set of Nebo rain gear in there. With the forecast unfortunately might get to test it on the turkey opener Saturday

I just bought some SKRE rain gear off here. I really like the stuff. It's a little noisy compared to my core4 stuff. But it weighs a full pound and a half less.

Living in the high desert has allowed me to skate by without quality rain gear. I'm currently been using Russell rain gear set. Last season for whatever reason I ended wearing rain gear over 10 days so knew a upgrade was inorder.

The Russell treated me pretty well for many years but last year it soaked though in a couple spots and it's brushed so it takes a long time to dry. That's no good for multiple days of rain. Since I typically carry rain gear much more than I wear it I wanted a lite wieght set that was durable. First impressions are I made a good choice

Here is my previous rain gear on the scale

This set of SKRE Nebo is 2xl so it didn't surprise me that the actual wieght is slightly more than the listed 13oz

Love the attention to little details such as labeling the stuff sacks jacket or pants

Will aid in quickly identifying which I've just dug out of the pack.

packability into a compact package is beneficial for space savings

I’m not sure what to think about the buckles at the top of the pants. I see arcteryx uses a similar style so maybe I’m missing something? What’s your thoughts, any advantage over just having a continuous waist band?

Pretty compact especially for 2x

I think it really comes down to having "full" length zippers. If the zipper goes past the waist band you'll need something to hold that circumference or the zipper will be pulled open due to tension.

Here is the Russell design it lacks very much adjustment with only two snaps.

The SKRE design offers multiple adjustments for a better fit and it's substantially stronger

The only negative I've heard is it that the buckle can be difficult to manipulate with cold fingers. I guess you could latch the waist hooks then step into the leg opening similar to a full waist band system if you wanted.
Here is a video of Mike from SKRE using all the features of the Nebo pants to quickly get them on and zipped up. Have not tried his system yet but looks pretty slickNebo Rain Pant Demonstration - YouTube

Do the rain pants have a fly of any sort? Or do you have to pull them down to go? I guess if you were well endowed you could just hang it out of the side zip but unfortunately I can’t do that

Wow guess I'm lucky these have a standard fly to use as needed. I might embarrass myself trying to use the side zipper that's a tall order.

These Nebo pants are very articulated and fit really nice which I think will help keep the noise down by keeping the fabric closer to your body. Seams look excellent and well taped.

Limited entry turkey opener in the morning heading out now. Kids opted to stay home because it's been cold and crazy windy not ideal turkey conditions by any stretch of the imagination.
