ULTIMATE - SHORT BARREL CARTRIDGE???

Hey,

Looking to build a short barreled long range gun. Wanting 2925 fps with 180 eldm but sub 20" barrel. Open to other options outside 7mm.

Options so far, 28 sherman mag, 28 nosler, 7-300prc.

Any ideas?

I put together a tikka t3x in 7 Backcountry last weekend. 17.5" barrel was shooting the 170 terminal ascent at 2940 fps, the 155 terminal ascent was at 3040, and the 168 lrx was at 2890. With the suppressor will have total barrel length around 22.1". It shot the 170 best which is what I hoped. At 2940fps and .646 bc that will be way more effective than I am capable of as a shooter. Take a loot at that route.

Let brass availability decide for you. With ADG producing 7-300prc brass id go that route

7mm Allen mag should get you there. Might have to use a little faster powder.

If you're just trying to be different look at 7mm blaser or a 284 winchester. 280 Ackley? The cartridges you listed make no sense in a short barrel compared to a more efficient 7mm. Would just blow all that extra powder capacity out the end. What length barrel is a short barrel?
