I'm currently moving towards the UL area and have now decided it's time to upgrade my pack to a more streamline, UL pack. As of now, I am looking at the SG Solo, SG SKY, Kifaru High Camp, or a Paradox.

Where does everyone keep their map? Would you consider it 'easy access'?

I am running either a KU 5200 or a EXO 3500 and I don't put a map in either on as this defeats the purpose of carrying a map. Rather, I put it in a map case and fold it to go in a leg pocket in my pants. I never have to take my pack off to get my map out.

ditto. If I had to put it somewhere other than in my cargo pocket it would be snugged in between my back and the pack above the hipbelt. Always in a clear plastic case of some sort.

I generally carry two maps, one in my pant cargo pocket that I pull out and use all the time and one in my pack, in zip lock bag. Both are simple photo copies of regular maps that contain only the specific area I'm hunting. Simple cheap working maps.\

More & more though I'm using the GPS as my working map.

I put my maps in a ziplock and inside the pack. I don't need them often, I've already studied them so much in the off-season that they're engrained on my brain for the most part. That, and I generally hunt the same areas that I've been hunting for years. But on my SG Solo they're in the inside pocket.

I actually always carry a GPS with me now. However, I just enjoy the use of a map. I mostly use them to get more of an overview of the area.

Thanks for all the replies. As of now, I'm going to get a map case and try to figure out a way to secure it between the frame and the pack.

I keep a map in a gallon ziploc in the hydration pocket of a Hydro Talon or Dual Talon. Folded up it works great.

Map cases are nice, but pricey and heavier than a ziploc.

I keep my maps in the top lid on my Sky 7400. Usually in a plastic paper protector with the sides taped. I lay it flat in the lid and put stuff on top. Ziploc is good too.

A fun little trick that I learned is that my map (in a waterproof map case) slides easily right down the side of my gaiters. Deep enough that it is very snug and secure and doesn't fall out while walking through the brush. Very easy to reach down and grab and put back.

As long as it is not pouring on me, it goes in the hip pocket.
